Raiders way too strong?
So, I just had a raider fleet cross my space with a fleet 3X as powerful a fleet as I can possibly buld at present (literally maxing out my naval capacity isn't enough to stand a chance), burn down half my mining/research stations, then turn around and go back and burn all the repaired stations down again. The best part is this was as a result of someone hiring them to attack my *neighbor* rather than me directly, they just burned down my empire en route. This... doesn't seem balanced or well thought out.
For now I'm just disabling raiders in my game until they don't just randomly ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ your empire with no way to stop them, but I really hope this gets fixed- most of the 2.0 changes seem solid, but this seems like the game randoimly kicking you in the balls just because.

It isn't balanced or well thought out. You are right to just turn them off until Paradox fixes them.
There is a bug right now where you cannot pay them off when they are travelling through your territory, but you are supposed to. Likely fixed in the coming hotfix.

You are supposed to be able to pay them to leave you alone. Currently, doing so does nothing.

My most recent game I got the joy of two of them either side of me. And they would both raid constantly. I'd get about a week between raids before they were back.

Basically I was playing a no space station game.

If only there was some way to turn them off - like a slider or something.

Same problem here: - I wish there was a popup when they were ready to be hired again: - this way I could actually use them against my enemies instead of getting wrecked by them - which would be cheaper anyway.

It's 2270 and this is the 2nd time they run amok through my space with an 8k fleet - the first time they retreated after "cleaning" two of my systems, since I managed to beat them down to about 1.8k with my 6k fleet plus 3k starbase --- I mean my fleet still retreated so I only lost a third or so; but this time around my fleet was at the other side of my empire and now they cleaned out 6 of my sytems and beat my fleet again by the time we met - I'm pretty much ready to abandon this playthrough by now. Although I only have 3 normal empires in the galaxy that still count as "equivalent" (- well aside from one Fallen Empire and the Star Tribe itself that is... - I'm playing normal difficulty in a medium sized galaxy: every setting on standard plus Ironman.)

In theory I could have bought them with 3k credits to go after my neighbour - I just missed the chance (- and I didn't have 3k laying around, because I was paying enclaves to get those 10% unity and 10% research boosts etc.). Now I lost at least 7k+ minerals worth in stations and fleet, and they are still going strong all through my space.

With the Ascension Perk that gives Naval Capacity I can in theory build enough stuff to beat them, but it takes tens of thousands of minerals and years of time to build such a fleet.

I guess I just start over with a smaller empire. (I claimed around 20%-25% of galaxy space or at least made sure I cut the other empires out of it, so I could claim the space later - but with those unstoppable raids my whole expansion plans pretty much came to a halt. Plus a Red Spectral wraith is wiping systems on the other side of my empire; the mercs at least leave the outposts at 1hp / leave my space claims untouched - the Wraith instead cleans whole systems: 3 systems lost: that's 225 in influence down the drain - not counting the minerals and the lost income... - i guess for killing that thing I need a 20k+ fleet anyway.)

Bugged right now. The highest priced raider service spawns a fleet of like 13k power when the rest of the galaxy will have fleet strengths of about 3k. I had a raider empire a bit to the south of me and even when they got hired to raid other people they would just run through my systems and destroy everything in thier path massively setting my empire back each time.

I managed to beat either their cheap or middling fleet but their high priced fleet is nearly if not flat out impossible for you to beat at least without a quick federation grab and fleet build+allies and a good foritified starbase. Sometimes you get lucky and theres a fallen empire between you and them and their fleets just smash into the FE's ♥♥♥♥ though.

Played tonight with a friend, got really lucky with have one marauder faction to the left of me and one to the right, so was squeezed between them, and my empire was basically a loop of systems, so they took turns do the rounds. My counter ended up be colonize every planet I could put my hands on and put my effort into planets, rather than build infrastructure in space that just ended up wrecked. It went slow but once I gained momentum I could muster a fleet that could stand ground to the raiding fleets.

Don't start put defence platforms and such on a starbase before you got a fleet to support it.

Yeah like in moola you could hire spacedragons I think and when they arrived at a system they would demand ransome money and if you payed them you could send them to another system and if not they would attack.
Something like this would be nice.
And yeah their fleet power is ways above mine always its like facing a tank with a spear ...

I like the idea of raiders in the game but they are definitely too unbalanced and too easy for the hostile AIs to continuously spam hiring them instead of the AI going to war with you. There should be some kind of change to this to make sure they can’t keep being hired or just take it out all together. At the very least making them more balanced is absolutely the main thing. Giving us a chance to fight back and defeat them so they maybe think twice about raiding again is definitely needed.

Yeah, gee, if only there was a way to know beforehand how r3tardedly overpowered they would be.

If only there was a way to counter a fleet that will plow at 4,5k through your space, while you have at best a 1,5k Starhold, gee.

Geee, if only they would develop like normal factions and not just spawn with advanced tech.

If only you wouldn't hide behind a Lv0 and actually had the balls to post what you think with your real profile.

Geee, if only, gee.

Pirates are alright, but marauders simply have no fckn right to exist. May as well have some Sim City style space-tornado just go through your empire and demolish everything.

Wow, I just thought I sucked! Now lemme see how to turn raiders off. Is it just me, or is 2.0 the most broken system since advent of Stellaris?
Dog Of War Feb 27, 2018 @ 5:19pm
Okkkkk? So for the person who stated that Raiders could be turned off till they fix it, exactly where in game options is it?
Detective Costeau Feb 27, 2018 @ 5:35pm
Dog of war- It's one of the sliders when you start a new game, same as number of habitable planets etc.
Dog Of War Feb 27, 2018 @ 5:38pm
What is the slider labeled as, cause there is no slider tagged Raider?
