But how does one get the 1st one is still unknown to me!
While I have gateways and no wormholes inside my borders, the wormhole stabilization tech has appeared in my list of offered techs but the gateways one has not.
Anyone has any experience with this?
i guess having a genius scientist or the curator scientist in the physics department will increase the chance.
you probably also still need a certain number of techs of the previous tiers researched before techs of the next higher tier can show up. don't really know - but at least it used to work like that in the old 3 tier system. the new system uses 5 tech tiers afaik and i guess gateway reactivation is probably tier 4?
gateway construction seems to be tier 5 tech. really expensive (20,000 research base cost) only just got it and still in the process of building my first gateway. seems like you can only build one gateway at any given time (ie. not possible to have multiple constructors building gates in multiple systems in parallel)
edit: i also reactivated the gateway that was in one of my systems, so can't say if it that was required for the gateway construction tech. reactivating it also automatically activated the other existing gateway across the galaxy. there were only those 2 gateways in the galaxy, can't say if the reactivation would also activate more than 1 other endpoint if there are more, but seems likely.
Gateway tech is after hyperdrive 3
unless you have 2 gates in your lands and your willing to pay to fix both your gonna have to wait for teh AI to fix gates in thier lands before its usful
which is stupid because if if by some chance you somehow cant find a gateway by the time the AI gets the tech it becomes literally impossible to get the tech because active gateways don't count.
Like for example in my current game I was playing fanatic purrifiers and the only close gateway was in the one empire I was afraid to take on and I didn't bother getting it because I didn't know you needed to discover one.
and now every single gateway is active leaving me in a 1000 star galaxy fully into repeatable tech, but without the ability to build gateways to make traveling across my now huge empire a chore
if your scientists can figure out how those things work from having a glance at an inactive one, it should actually be much easier for them to figure that stuff out if they see a gate in action.
You also don’t need any ascension perks.
