Orange expanding circles problem

Good evening community,

Loving the new 2.0 patch, makes the game more fun in my opinion!

As my title states, my problem is i've selected a random area of space. This has resulted with an orange circle which gets bigger, before disappearing and then restarting the process.
This would be ok, but its right in the heart of my upcoming empire, and frankly rather distracting.

Do any of you know how I can solve this rather basic problem?

That sounds weird. Do you have a screenshot of that circle? What do you mean when you say you "selected" a random area of space?

What I meant was that I accidently did something on, in my words, a random area of space.

So I got this by holding down ALT and clicking. How do you get rid of it though?

Oh, thats the problem. I cant work out how to get rid of the circles :P
I think reloading in helps (didnt notice it today when playing), but was in my save for like 5 hours straight yesterday!

Alt click is a player ping. Check controls, maybe is a cancel ping. Cannot remember
