Playable, but most irritating.
Can anyone suggest anything other than another re-install, already done it once.
Actually, I have never played this game before, so I have no idea where the problem you've mentioned appears. If you tell me which part shows that problem in the game, I'll check the same part on my PC whether the same problem occurs or not.
Yeahhhh! Now we can play this game yeahhhh!
Before the '-opengl' instruction it wasn's just negative on the start screen it was whitish white with slightly darker text on the screen, after the opengl, i can read the text, barely, and select options, and start a new game or laod a old game. Most times the star background stays normal black, but it sometimes loads in as negative starfield.
Fix:
1.go to documents. paradox interactive. stellaris. and move/copy your mod folder and save files folder to desktop.
2. delete entire stellaris document folder.
3. start game should remake the folder and work.
4. re-add your modds and save files you moved/copied out back so you keep the stuff.
disclaimer: there is something in those files that causes this and this is just a brute force tactic. will remove all other settings as well and play sets. basically if nothing else works this will definitely work.
