How do I edit Federation ship design?

Hi, so I can't disable auto-best for federation ships it seems.

Problem is, the AI nations spam the fleet with corvettes, so the only way I can add any other types of ships is by making it myself.

This worked okay so far, but now I have Psionic shields technology, which I don't have Zro for.
However, the auto-best design insists that all Federation ships be armed with this Psionic shield that I cannot supply.

Ergo, I'm stuck with Corvettes again.

Anyone know any way out of this?

There's no reason why they should be stuck to auto-best. Are you sure you've got the auto-best unchecked? If so, you should be able to add federation ship designs without trouble.

Make sure you go to the ship design menu from the federation ship page - from what I remember, that's the only way you can actually design federation ships. Going from the normal menu doesn't give you the option.

Aha, thanks! So I went to my own ship designer and disabled auto-complete.
Then I went to the Federation ship designer and the auto-complete was disabled.
Seems very unintuitive, but I guess that works.
