Game manual require cookies for external advertisements/social media association?
I have well over 100 hours in this game. It has been quite a while since I have played and I really enjoyed the game. Now, this game when I fire it up almost looks like a completely new game with as many changes as they have implemented. The problem I am now running into is that the in game "tutorial" is totally worthless to be honest. When I go to try to look something up, it opens up an external wiki page which requires cookies in order to run. Also, they blatantly admit that they use your information for for personalized advertisements and to share your information with social media which I definitely do not want to allow. Seeing as how I purchased the game, should I not expect to be able to have access to a game manual without giving out any information for advertisement and social media access to my demographic information?

Now I am even having a difficult time at game start figuring out where all my energy upkeep and income statistics are generated from. If they are going to change the game to this extent and not provide an in game (already paid for) medium through which to learn the specifics of the changes, a small part of me wonders if at this point I should not be asking for my money back. However, I realize that is a 'firing from the hip' response to being frustrated and more than slightly annoyed at the cookie crap they are pulling.

Is there any other documentation of the new build I can use to find detailed specifics on how all the numbers are derived? (energy, minerals, etc.,) Without being forced to allow cookies on a web browser give out any information about my PC to any 3rd party? (seriously devs.. terrible decision there)

Have you tried typing in "2.2 guide" or just simply "stellaris guide" on YouTube and picking the newest one with the most views?

Oh but YouTube also stores information about the user, and OP wants none of that.

I love how people just cannot refrain from personally attacking other individuals on these forums sometimes.

The "manual" is an online wiki, every web page has cookies... what are you doing on the internet.

That's not the point. It is more a matter of principal. I just don't understand why so many do not understand that.

As for Rord64, I was just surprised that you go from one end of the spectrum of making a great and helpful (even friendly) post to the other end of calling someone names. (Whatever the name might be)

Would you rather have me said "Well if he'd rather be a person who dislikes modern technology"?

I was just shortening it.

You can access all that info without giving all that info, just click the extras and say no to everything and delete your cookies for the site after.

It's more resignation than name calling. If you don't want cookies, there are going to be a lot of internet sites you won't be able to read. The difference is that this wiki TELLS you that instead of the others that simply do it without telling you. There really isn't much practical difference. Though if you really want to, we can write a HUGE guide here for you, but it will take pages. You interested?

Thank you. I appreciate the offer. Rord was correct though, after following his advice I have found some other areas with a few guides I have been looking at. Jury is still out on if I like how they are doing the math. A bunch of things I still can't answer such as where specifically are they getting some of their numbers, but I'm still reading.

Nice.

I am 99% sure that those other areas use cookies. Steam, which you are using right now, uses cookies. if you want to avoid cookies, avoid the internet altogether

Just be careful, the numbers and things like production fluctuate massively through a huge number of factors so treat them as ballpark figures instead of hard and fast ones. For example, energy, it relies on 1-species traits 2-government traits 3-civics, 4- planet happiness, 5- leadership, 6- colony designation, 7- tech, 8- buildings and this is just the basics that I can remember off the top of my head.

That energy discrepancy has so far been the biggest thing that was bugging me. IMHO when the game is paused it should initiate a synchronization between all displayed numbers which it is not doing. For example, the new game I was just studying, the top left hand showed a trade income of 6, but when I clicked on the planet, it showed 11.51 It was not until I un-paused the game for about 4-5 seconds that the top left hand numbers changed to reflect the 11.5 which just bugs my...ocd I guess you would call it.

The districts and city districts being separated also threw me for a few minutes. Unless I did it wrong, it looks like you count the specific number of 'built' squares in the energy, food, and minerals "districts" and then add those up for the total (which is 6 squares..2 of each at +1). The "city districts" is all by itself for yet another 6 energy. There are 3 full blue squares and those look like are worth 2 each. Not sure why they divided them up unless is was due to the differing costs of each district.

Lastly, the other one that messed me up until I read another forum post was the starbases. If you hover the mouse over just the icon on the system map, it does not give you any resource cost anywhere. You have to move the mouse to hover over the actual physical starbase out in space which then shows a +2 cost. However, the overall cost is listed at 5 energy. The mouse over is not taking into consideration the 3 modules/crew quarters on the station which all take +1. The overall list however, is taking it into consideration but there was a delay of a few seconds before it showed after I dismantled them during testing. (would be nice if there was a more detailed breakdown report screen somewhere you had access to, but as you mentioned the delay in not displaying correct numbers would have to be overcome first such as forcing a synchronization when the game is paused)

The top numbers only update at the start of a new month.
