Science Nexus event
I got this event today. "Fountain of youth" is the name if i remember correctly. There are dr. Groik and dr. X-something.. I read somewhere if you choose dr. Groik you will get +50 research boost for your nexus. dr. X-something on the other hand gives you i think +25 years leaders lifespan?

Rant:

But all i read was just some side mentions in threads where main discussion was something like: "Megastructures", "Is Science Nexus worth it?" etc. I did not find a single thread discussing this event in details. I tried Google, Reddit, Stellaris wiki, also here on Steam. I searched: "Science Nexus event", "Megastructures events", "dr Groik", "Fountain of youth"...

I'm guessing there are numerous topics about this event, but for the love of me i could not find a SINGLE topic that describes this event chain and all of its possible outcomes. And i spent HOURS trying. As you may have guessed, salt level is 100% atm.

Rant ends.

Can someone please explain this event chain in details or give some link? What are the outcomes, chances etc.. For instance i chose society guy, gave him 1000cr and it turns out he was a fraud so he just run away with my credits. Lol. I never saw anyone even mention this option as possible. All they mention in threads are something vague about scientist sacrifice and you get improved Nexus.

Is this dr. Groik choice? What are the other options? Are there any prerequisites you must meet to have some of the outcomes? Grok also mentioned he is suspicious of the new doctor. Should i have gave him 500cr to check him?

i don't think i've encountered this event you're speaking of. i remember the tree event where you can make leaders live longer or boost empire happiness.

this is a random chance(30% i think) when you finish your science nexus of getting the option to sacrifice a scientist for a permanent boost to your nexus
Thank you anyway.

I do not have 1st popup window screenshot (start of the event). I remember it was called "Fountain of youth". Essentially it goes something like this: We discovered promising scientist (Dr. Xhaxxore) who is working on cell regeneration blah blah.. We can hire him for 1000cr. But then again Dr. Groik needs funds too, since she (i made mistake in my first post, it's she-not he) have some ideas about improving our nexus..

So it gives you a choice, and i've went with Dr. Xhaxxore and his cell regeneration research.

Shortly after second message popup: Suspicious minds. This time i have screenshot. I've went with first option: There's nothing to back her claims.

And shortly after last message: The Essence of nothing. Lol

So that's it. No population happiness or longer leaders lifespan. Just a fraud.

if you chose to sacrifice the scientist it would permanently increase the nexus production from 300 to 350 monthly

My golden rule for Stellaris is always go for long term output buffs... compound interest is the most powerful force in the universe after all.

Except when you can't go for long term buff. :steammocking:
Like when your researcher escapes with your money.
The "Dr. Groik" event is the permanant +50 science boost to your science nexus in exchange for sacrificing the scientist.

Yep, i figured that out. But i went with Dr. Xhaxxore since +25 years leaders lifespan or perma-boost to your pop happiness sounded much better than +50 science boost. Unfortunately, it did not worked for me. That's why i was interested if anyone knows all outcomes of this event.

Never saw that before, seems interesting.
I only ran into these two events:
The +50 by uploading a scientist.
Also an event that the physics lead scientist goes missing and is later found in the Nexus with new added traits both "spark of genius" and "maniacal"

This could be a newly added event or maybe it has to do with your governing ethics, civics and such. And do you play with mods that add events?

Nope. It's vanilla. For ethics, in this case it's fanatic materialists and xenophile. It's democratic government with technocracy and mechanist civics.

It is a roleplay of an enlightened and highly technologically advanced empire, democratic and with full citizen rights for everyone including synths. But decisions are based on reason, not ideals so they are not some "space elves". They are generally "good", like to trade and share technology with other empires, but if they deem war as the best solution they will declare it without problems. Also, if some colonized planet needs to grow fast, citizens will be resettled there from other parts of the empire. There will not be: Would you please emigrate to that planet because empire needs that strategic resource?

Citizens do enjoy rights and liberties, but there are also duties and responsibilities. Sort of like Tau from WH40k and their concept of "Greater Good".

I got this event. I chose the fountain of youth doctor.

Later on, the other scientist gets suspicious and wants to start an investigation for 500 energy. I chose to trust the youth doctor.

Later on, I discovered that my trust was misplaced; the youth doctor vanished without a trace. My empire received no positive or negative effects.

Yes, i did the same as you and i got the same outcome. Thank you for your reply. I am interested in other outcomes, i can't replay it since i play ironman. For instance, what if we approve investigation? Or we go for the other scientist in the first place. Does his path also offers choice later? Are there some choices locked behind ethics and so on.
It kinda just fell into place for me I Chose Dr. Groik. . A few days later I was given the option one of my scientist's brain to the nexus. I agreed and got it. Short and sweet.
Go to your Stellaris directory, open “events” folder, search for keyworlds like “fountain”, “think_tank” etc, open the needed file with notepad, read. Absolutely everything will be there. You can edit it to your liking as well.
If you investigate you can find out that he used living subjects to extract a serum that grants temporary youth with long term side effects. You can sell the serum as a beauty cream or try to capture the con man. If you do he slips away and his staff and live subjects remain behind. You have the chance to let the staff make up for how blind they were by working on the nexus.
