Pre-sapient species not showing in species list? (cannot uplift?)
So it is a pretty confusing issue.... Now I haven't tried uplifting since the 2.0 mechanics changes. I cannot find anything anywhere to give the uplift command. Are they bugged? Is a policy set wrong?

Attached is showing them in my control as well as the full species list for this small galaxy. Since they fit so well with my species xenophage playstyle, I want to uplift to nom nom them... Unless I can keep them pre-sentient with one of the policies so they stay as they are.

There's a partial disagree with Nightmyre as you shouldn't *need* to colonise the planet to uplift the pre-sapients, but only have the planet within your borders.

I've been researching this issue since it's happening to me too and it appears to be a bug. Colonising the planet first seems to be the workaround some others have discovered, and some folks have reported that the pre-sapients eventually show up on the list but the exact trigger is unknown.

Still not fixed? I'm new to Stellaris and this is happening to me. Interestingly, at least one presapient species outside my borders does show up in the species view. When I researched epigenetic triggers, I got the prompt saying that roaches were inside my borders but I didn't know what it was talking about because they are not in the species view. I didn't find our where they were until I tried to terraform their planet and my policies won't let me terraform a planet with presapients. So now I'll be colonizing a planet with 10% habitability? It must be a bug. The ones outside my borders are on the species list and have the "uplift" button (greyed out bc outside my borders).

Not fixed as of 5/25/20 (Version: Verne 2.6.2).

Like the above poster, I researched the Uplift tech and was immediately given a prompt that I had a pre-sapient species in my borders with unspent trait points; I clicked on it and it gave me a list of all the species in the galaxy, but the one it was notifying me of was conspicuously absent.

Colonizing the planet seems to have worked. The species appeared the moment colonization began.

Ha ha, this happened to me again last night and I forgot I had made this post. I was sure I had a planet or two with pre sapients in my border, but darned if I could find them. But suddenly I got the notification on one colonization.... ah, there they are XD. Definitely uplift needs looking at. It is a neat thing, but still so convoluted.

I never had this problem before, but it's happening to me now. Anyone find any way to fix this?

Jesus. I hate to necro-post, but it's happening to me too!

Happening to me right now. I have the unspent trait points notification and know where to find the planet but the species won't show up. There is a sapient non space faring planet in the same system that I'm observing. They show up on the list and there is also a non sapient species in another empire that is showing up on the list. Not mine though. Such a long term bug.

I just started playing again now and remember why I don't buy the dlc because I don't want to support grabbing money when the base game has bugs like this after such a long time.

And... still happening today.
But I guess the wiki has been updated, has now it is normal (though not intuitive at all) :

"The planet must be colonized and within the player empire's borders."

Do armies still vanish from the outliner in the late game? I'm really hating that one lately.
