AI having DLC civics
i only have the Apocalypse DLC downloaded. in my most recent play through i encountered an AI empire that has the civic Fanatic Purifier. i thought it weird since i didn't see it before. Their civics were Fanatic Xenophobe and Spiritualist. it's very confusing since it doesn't show up on my civic list at all. im just really confused

I dont think fanatic purifiers are part of a DLC. You need to be Fanatic Xenophobe, and it should show up in the civic list, a big skull sign

Damn, did not know that. It really is worth it to buy Utopia then, it is a really fun way of playing the game. Utopia will probably get a massive discount next summer sale.

still makes no sense how the AI has access to it

Well every game should have a fanatic purifiers or one of the other total war starting government. Just to mix things up. Do you also get machine empires? Or do you have the synthetic dawn DLC

Are you sure it's their civic, not thier personality?

Without utopia fanatic purifier is a government type of someone who is a fanatic xenophobe militarist. Player also have access to this play-style it it grants total war but without the civic there is no benefit to your country to make up for the fact that all other AI's will attack you. Its worth noting that these non civic purifier AI empires will be replaced with normal xenophobe empires and civic empires if you do have the dlc.

it does say civic
cuz it details their government right? then the list of civics
"Civics: Fanatic Purifier (lists all buffs and able to perform the 'purification' casus belli)" im just confused why this happens

im pretty sure the AI can get (some) dlc features even if you don't have the dlc.

it helps to motivate you to buy the dlc.

on the plus side: if you aren't adverse to using the console, this often means you can get them yourself too.

This is normal, mostly for consistency sake I guess, which kinda causes things to break a little in terms of immersion. It doesn't bother me personally. I like this game and I will continue to support the developers via DLC.
