Terraforming the moon
I thought you could terraform the moon of your home world but I guess not. Though haven't there been SCI FY shows with moon bases? I think that would be a cool feture,

You can terraform mars. A moon base would be cool too. Then have the moon fly off per Space 1999.

Turning the moon into a battlemoon can be done with a mod ^^'

You can eventually terraform barren planets, right?

Ha ha yeah. Blow moon out of orbit with nuclear waste. Legit. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6BXaGEuqxo

If your moon have any deposits and mining/research station - you can consider it inhabited. Pretty much like in real life - its possible to establish some mining/research facilities there, but permanent settlements? Not likely be worth it, with FTL drives present.

You can. But later in game with advanced tech. But im not sure if you can terraform barren planets in vanilla (haven't played it in ages), but with mods you can - that I can confirm for sure.

Pretty sure terraforming candidates is part of vanilla.

I agree with keeping small moons as mining/research stations. The moon is about 10% of the Earth in terms of surface area. That would make it maybe somewhere around a 2-4 for planet size.

Well I did use cheat codes to advance the terraforming research and it says it is not a canidate but Mars is even though they are both barren.

If you're using cheatcodes just use the colonize command on it.

Doesn't the moon lack an atmosphere (Not 100% on this).

Some, there is an anomaly that can turn out to make the planet a terraform-candidate, then it can be terraformed (afaik need the tech to terraform tomb-worlds).

most big stellar bodies have atmospheres, the moon has one aswell (gases that are kept in place by gravitational pull) it's just very very very thinn and barely noticable. So yeah in a terraforming sense, it's pretty much nonexistent.
