UPDATE: Defo Bug. Slavery Prohibited Empire selling slaves, Game crashes when clicking Slave market tab.
I've recently run up against an issue with my Empire.

In my current Empire Slavery has remained prohibited pretty much since starting the game (Egalitarian Democracy etc). However I recently went to war with a faction where Slavery was widespread, after conquering a number of their planets (in particular their home world) I've been faced with numerous Slave related issues.

Eventually I had to deploy 2 2k armies to fight one of the most brutal planet side battles of the entire play through to suppress a major uprising. Now that seems to have put the slaves to rest on that planet, but increasingly I'm finding the other planets from this Empire are following suit albeit a lot slower.

Recently I even received a notice that a single slave of -mine- was sold for 11k!

So whats going on?

At first I thought maybe its a fall out mechanism, after all it makes sense that if you suddenly make loads of slaves free you'd initiate major imbalances in the economy and social order and that might lead to them wanting to overthrow the regime (I mean they literally slaughtered all the Defence divisions that were transferred over to me when the enemy Empire surrendered, so revenge?).

But after I 'sold' a slave I'm starting to think the games gotten confused and it thinks I have slaves (or my Empires hierarchy are secretly in on some shady business and I have no way of knowing). After all, on the species list, no one is listed as being a slave, and policies still state that it's prohibited.

Thoughts?

Are you also a xenophobic empire?

Screenshots of the rights you have listed may help.

Also is it possible that they are machine slaves?

Here is a screenshot of policies.

The Annexed empire in question doesn't have enough robots for it to be them I think. When I checked the battle (should have taken a screenshot) all the slaves were of the same spcies as that Empire.

But no, not a Xenophobe.

My Empire is a Fanatic Egalitarian Militarist

I think I've figured the problem.

For whatever reason after I conquered territory of an Empire that has Slaves, my Empire began to operate as if slaves weren't prohibited.

At the moment I'm hitting increased performance issues since this has happened.

My Empire has started enslaving and selling slaves without my input. (It likes to keep telling me I'm putting slaves on sale)

When I try to access the Slave market to see wtf is going on the game immediately crashes WITHOUT an error code.

from what i've seen if you own a pop that was enslaved and listed on the market(that you didn't buy) it'll still be on the market until you take it off.

this causes issues because once midgame rolls around the market tends to be very laggy even to the point of crashing the game like it does for you.

Probably, got overcrowded at some point. It gets laggy when there are a lot of pops, so, probably, has a certsin limit like fleets did back in the day (some 620 ships max). Although, on highest difficuilty I hardly see AI trade slaves, so never experienced it.
