Need Empire Name's
So i am putting a D&D inspired Stellaris Multiplayer and i am trying to make 20 custom empires before i start looking for players. But i have overused all the normal sci fi inspired empires what everyone and there dogs have used. from star trek or star wars. So decided to ask here in the forums so anyone uncommon ideas for a empire names i'll take empire ideas also if there any good ones. especially will consider the ones what fellow members of the forums have thought were good. So please take this as a serious idea throwing. As will feel free to say in your comment if you maybe interested because its gonna be week or 2 from now. when i start getting players for it. Will be doing weekends mainly due to most people do stuff in the week days. But if the whole group if free on said week day. The idea is we play also if everyone up to it.:steamhappy::steamhappy:

Imperial Khasmorath Dominions, spiritualist authoritarian xenophiles,, they look a little slug like and their civics are probably Mining Guilds and Environmentalist.

My first Stellaris Empire was the Tentacoid Dominion, back in 1.1. Fanatic Spiritualist/Xenophobe, with a bunch of negative traits and Venerable. They were that Fungoid portrait with the flower-face on the end of a tentacle, with two other tentacles to the side. Their primary objective was terraforming; in their own words, they wanted to "make the Galaxy a home for the Tentacoid People," by turning everything inside their borders into Ocean Worlds.

Favorite is the Turtoid Horde: Fanatic Xenophobe/Militarist Barbaric Despoilers who turtle inside their borders (occasionally raiding other empires for slave pops) and develop habitats/megastructures until the Crisis hits. They have the snapping turtle portrait from the Reptilian phenotype.

I bet their race would be Reptilians.

I'll throw you some of my custom one's names., maybe some will be to you liking:

The Collectors (slavers, militant egalitarian, has nihilistic aquisition civic from the start)

Legathoran Progress Party (xenophobe fanatic materialists. dystopian scientific directorate)

Kingdom of Rorkadia (humanoid "middle kingdom". Core species have all possible toxic traits (quarellsome and so on), masters of infighting and revolt spawning

Onotach High Kingdom (religious militant catgirls)

Hoots Galactic Empire (military dictatorship, sometimes slaughter peasants by night)

Concordat of Vista (militant authoritatian xenophiles)

Unliving Collective (aka space undead. militant clique with warrior culture and oligarchy + a bit xenophobic (undead hate living ones))

Uesugi Clan (a japanese samurai clan that somehow took over their planet and made it to the galatic scene. militant spititualist xenophobes)

Vaitral Exiles (yes, from THAT Vaitral. Egalitarian Xenophilesl. Oligarcy)

Ren Hegemony (Xenophile Fanatic Pacifist catgirls. species have major science bonus. Usually have Aspiring Precursors personality )

My favorite which came out of my randomizer was "The Blood Court" Fanatic purifier imperial enduring space elves, though oligarchic would probably work too.

The game I used The Blood Court in also generated another faction using the exact same race which was fanatic xenophile federation builder space elves. I can't remember their name unfortunately, but it created a light/dark elf trope.

Use the Stellaris random civ generator; spam that for long enough and you'll find what you want.
I find taken two names and putting them together sounds cool sometimes, or even some ancient generals in our cultures, their names sound cool. Saladin, a general from around 1000 AD who attacked and took over Jerusalem sounds cool in my opinion.

Other good ones IMO:

-Turenne
-Barca

Also you only noted star wars and star trek. Might want to check out the alien names from Babylon 5 or Stargate. Centari, Minbari, Narn, Pakmara, Brakiri, Drakh, Vorlon, Shadows were all great names IMO.

I made a custom race called the Shadows. There's even an arthropoid portrait that looks very similar.
