[HUGE SPOILERS] Shard Fleet power?

Just found Shard the dragon after the rubricator archeology line. I wonder, approximately how much fleet power do I need if I want to defeat it? Thanks!

I fought it once at 30k, I wasn't in a rush, and once at 22k. Had to steal the rubricator from my rival.

Also remember that you can build yourself a station in that system to make it easier, if you'd like to get it sooner. A 7K station + a 10-15K fleet should also suffice.

You build the station before starting the Excavation!
so by the time the Shard spawn the station is full up and running!

Actually I've beaten him with a 12k fleet before. Just spec the ships to his weaknesses. Bring only shields and energy weapons. He only uses energy weapons so shields are really good and he doesn't have shields so your energy weapons will melt him.

But yeah, 12k with the specific components and a good admiral should win.

You can also colonize the planet without doing the excavation, it's a free early planet every game. You can hold off starting the dig until you are ready, or just ignore it forever if you don't need the relic.

Also you can build up the starbase in the system and it will help you in the battle

I think I did colonize it, but I waited with the excavation waaay to long on that game. I basically wiped out the universe before dealing with Shard

If you already colonised the planet, you can safely ignore her till lategame anyway.
You'll only lose a bit of trade goods, the rest is fine and she can deal with any raiders if they show up XD

Great.... So funny story, I finished this questline just as my last world, a relic world as it happened was falling to a devouring swarm of cute starfish. So my ppl are saved! Also.... my people are trapped
