Console commands -observe

Noticed that the command " observe " works fine , but when you input command " play "insert name here" " , the game now thinks I'm playing the Defenders.....a 4k-ish fleet of mining drones with no home-world. Anybody confirm this ?

Last I checked (2.2.7) the command should be play X where X is the entity ID (player's empire is always 0), did they change that?
If you cycled through enough ID numbers you'd be controlling the space creatures, particular planet protecting fleets, etc.

Fro me I always had this sequence......create game.....observe , just to see hows things generate.....then input ' play bender " and I'm back at my home world.....but not any more.

Sometimes i had the "play XX" command ♥♥♥♥♥♥ before too, but if "play 00" doesnt work just type "debugtooltip" and hover over your epire, just type in that ID instead of "00". You probably already know that but just in case.

But what's the "bender" from? Is it your empire's name?

And the command is play 1......0 gets you a different empire.
