FTL inhibitors
Alright so this the first instance in a game where I'm at war and I can't move to attack the base because it won't allow me to path to it in order to kill the station (magnet icon). I don't have jump drives yet but is that the only work around?

you need to bome the lanet to 50% precent to disable the ftl inhibitor or capture the station

Jumpdrives need to be activated with the jump icon,
When you have the fleet selected, in the top left there is a row of icons, find the jump icon there.

Also make sure all ships in the fleet have jump drives ready and not on cooldown.
That literally answers nothing for the OP.

Has the game run after declaration so the borders are open? Are you already in an enemy system?

FTL inhibitors shouldnt hinder you from attacking a base in a border-system.

If an FTL Inhibitor is active in a system that means that you can enter the system, but can only leave it the same way you entered it unless you get rid of the inhibitor (by capturing the base and/or planet(s) wich are projecting them).

Would help if you describe the situation in a bit more detail (see Elitewreckers questions).

In case you paused, declared war and can't enter the border-system: let the game proceed one day, the game needs for the day to swap to realize the change in borderstatus (from closed borders to war, wich ofc allows you to enter the enemy space).

yeah it was a weird occurrence where one node was captured in enemy territory and the other nodes next to it both had inhibitors. I couldn't path to either node to attack. I had recently just finished jump drives and was then able to jump to it and capture as normal. It was just weird being that I've never had that happen.

You can do none of those if you can't move to the node.

That's not how inhibitors work, the first system you were in must have had a colony. That's what was preventing you from going to the other systems

FTL Inhibitors don't prevent you from moving into the systems they're in. They prevent you from leaving the system they're in by using a different hyperline than you've used to enter the system.

So if system A has an FTL Inhibitor, then you can enter the system from adjacent system B, but then you can't jump to system C, D, or E through system A, and can only leave it by moving back to system B, or by disabling the FTL Inhibitor.

So yeah, if you captured the starbase, then that system likely has a colony that still has an active FTL inhabitor.

In this situation it did I was at the central node nothing at the current node was existing I conquered "invaded all planets" and took the space station but the two nodes next to me I couldnt path to. Like I mentioned it was a rare occasion never had an issue and I know the rules. I did however, have to jump to it in order to continue as normal.
