how to defeat enemy?
i'm a bit confused atm.
how do i defeat enemies?

so, i'm at war with a npc
i took over ALL his systems including his colonized planets, but still he's not destroyed/defeated?
am i missing something?
do i have to claim every system he has before he's defeated or something?

Yo udon't have to cliam everything. Do they have allies? You might be missing a planet somewhere, look for spikes around every system flag.

he has nothing left, he's in a federation tho, but i'm not at war with them

but claiming every system would still probably be a good decision. means that when the war is over (assuming you will win) you will get all those systems. lol
srsly though, don't claim too much or your empire sprawl will explode and with it the costs for leaders/research/etc.

I find that it's about winning space and ground battles and waiting for the enemy to concede. I n my first game I( have an ally who keeps getting me into wars, although I'm seeing that they're setting me up to be able to go after special things like the Ether Dragon or Dimensional Horror. I was amazed at how long it took to win a war of Ideology when on the attack. I had to capture or devastate planets and then wait for time to increase both the attrition and capture levels. In a defensive war I had to capture pretty much everything.

Just keep watching the two levels and be patient. It sure seems like the AI's allow to be beat up too much before bellying up.

What does it say in the acceptance for victory?

U can take only the sectors u claimed, so etc if enemy have 30 sectors, u have claim on 10 but still u attacked all 30 so he cant make ships, still u get only that 10 u have claim on after the war. If he have planets after that he will be not destroyed and he takes back remaining 20. (sorry for eng'

You crush them. You grind their starbases into dust, you bombard their planets into tombs, you drive their populations into exile, enslave those who remain, and burn the rest into extinction.

That is how you defeat the enemy.

Surprised no one mention. That you could also always just use a colossus on all enemy planets to simply wipe the empire out.
