Does Non Aggression Pact = Open Borders?

I had a neighbor ask for a non aggression pact that I agreed to, shortly after i saw their science ships coming through my space. I checked diplomatic options and open borders was an available choice, meaning borders were currently closed with that empire but I could open them if I wanted to.

So, obviously Im a bit confused by it. How are they able to enter my space with closed borders?

Out of curiosity I clicked the open borders option and sent it. Now it says I cant close my borders for a certain time. So my borders were indeed closed. This must be a bug right

If you are in late game, jump drives bypass your borders since they jump directly to their location, though the AI used to be pretty scrupulous about keeping out of space they don't own. Is he IN your claimed territory or an unclaimed region you just happen to have surrounded?

In my claimed territory, He went from one end to the other to try and survey an unclaimed black hole guarded by some nasty things I cant kill yet.

Only 2 cases I can think of is either you opened your borders to them SPECIFICALLY in a treaty, you need to check your treaties with that specific empire to be sure or you're in a truce with him either after breaking a defence pact or finishing a war.

DON'T look at the policies settings, that is the DEFAULT setting for first contact, you can open borders to specific empires, not just open and close to all like the policies does.

In this game, this was the first time we had any communication. No wars. Borders were closed by default from the start. All we had was a non aggression pact. So, back to the original question, does a non agression pact = opens borders? Because I dont think it should, or did, yet they waltzed in like my borders were open, when they were not.

No, there is no open borders with a non-aggression pact. But in reverse, usually if you have closed borders with them, they WILL NOT give you a non-aggression pact because closed borders has a -20 opinion penalty. So if you have a non-aggression pact with them, you need to go back and check your diplomacy screen if you opened borders by accident because with the -20, you are either very good in diplomacy to get a NAP or you opened borders by accident and the -20 penalty went away.

I already looked at it. My borders were closed, as I already said. You seem to have a hard time accepting the fact that this game has bugs. I didnt ask them for the pact, they asked me. It seemed like a wise choice for them, since they were being invaded from the other side.

There was no human error on my part. its a pretty simple question. Does a non aggression pact equal open borders? People say not. So when i see them enter my space when borders were closed, it must be a bug, because none of the other stuff you thought of happened other than what I said happened. Read the OP again and take it literally. Theres no nuance in what I said or anything I left out.

When it comes to you I'm going to have to insist on screenshots. Go to your diplomacy panel and check if you have a "close borders" treaty option.

Wait, I noticed some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ here. You JUST opened communications and he INSTANTLY gave you a Non-Aggression Pact? There is almost no way this can happen. I would say no way but someone might have encountered something that I have not seen before, but Non-Aggression Pacts are treaties that people give you only after they have good relations for a long time, not just "Oh hi! Have a Non-Aggression Pact!" like you are giving out candy. Your narration of the events is very suspicious and you are leaving out something.

The "nuance" is that in all the "bug" posts you have posted, only one could be said to be a bug, the fleet not firing one. All the rest were just you not knowing what is happening. So pardon me if I don't believe that you're incapable of screwing up.

Over the last 24 hours you've made multiple posts claiming every tiny thing you don't like about the game, or mechanic you don't understand, is a bug. Then you claimed the devs were "stupid idiots" for not replying to your complaints. It's like you're trying to get banned.
