Swarm Builds that dont get killed right away
Hey, i make a swarm AI empire to be in my game so i can fight like the zerg or tyranids but they just get killed by the other AI so easily. i want them to be like a threat eating its way through the galaxy. Is there something im missing?

Just cause they are a hive mind doesnt mean they are inherently better than the others.

Its luck of the draw.

Like Metadragon said, it's mostly luck of the draw. The thing is: Devouring Swarms (like Fanatic Purifiers) get stuck with a -1000 relationship penalty to all other factions, along with further penalties for all the rampant conquering and purging the Swarm inevitably does. The second they gain any kind of real power, the AI empires will team up to kill them out of simple self-preservation. It's a recurring problem and I don't think you can fix it in the current game.

If you're into modding, maybe you can try lowering the relationship penalty to reduce its threat rating. That might increase the likelyhood of the Swarm surviving long enough to give you a nice challenge.

If you want fight against zerg/nids - you need a prethoryn scourge , Purificators and swarm do not give this feeling - total war and struggle for life

Last time i played as a devouring swarm, I built my species to grow as quickly as possible and colonized as many planets as i could. Once i had a fleet power of around 2.5k i started attacking empires close to me who didn't have any allies. Rinse and repeat, I ended up with about half the galaxy under my control before a fallen empire came in and wrecked me (ai colonized a holy world which i ceded :steamfacepalm:)

Swarm empires are difficult because everyone already hates you, plus expanding too fast will cripple your economy and destroy your reseach leaving you far behind in tech. Its currently not a very viable race due to the mechanics of the game, not impossible, but not very viable. Its up to rnjesus to decide if that playthough will work for you or not.
