What are the diplomatic penalties for different types of purging?
Title. I've never done any purges except genocidal purges, so I have no experience with them. This time I am playing a more peaceful and diplomatic oriented star nation, so I would like to know how severe of a penalty displacement and other purge types affect relations. If anyone has a way to rid an empire of unwanted pops outside purging tips would be appreciated.

If anyone knows the release date for 2.0 it would be a nice extra as well. Thanks.

Displacement is the "nice" way of purging no? You take over a planet and just tell the alien pops of screw off and they all go run somewhere that allows migration.

Any form of purging will hurt relations, if you eat them all (ie not livestock) I think you double dip into purge negative and xenophage. And Ive never done the "work the pop until death" purge but I would imagine you get the hit to diplomacy maybe at a lesser amount than just killing everything.

Sorry I cant be of more help. Theres been no release date for 2.0 but theyre doing dev diaries for it so expect it march/april or whatever.

I've found some infomation myself, will post in case anyone else wonders.

Base penalty for purging is -5 per pop, increased by -5 per level of eglitarian or xenophile ethos, up to a maximum of -20 per pop. The penalty is a fixed -25 per pop if you purge the dominant species of that empire. As can possibly be expected.

Eating aliens gives the most by far, due to the additional "you bloody ate them" modifier.

Extermination is 2nd most, as can be expected from full on government sanctioned genocide.

Forced labor gives variably less. Pops that die during the forced labor incur no penalty, but ones that die after their ~30 year work to death period incur full extermination penalties.

Neutering takes a LONG time (~54 years base), but incurs no penalty. I guess its all ok if they die slowly.

Displacement oddly enough gives NO diplomatic penalty. Quicker than Neutering, but you're also giving free pops to another empire and letting filthy xenos live.

Base decay is 1 per year. The biggest threat isn't the penalty itself, but it's stacking and slow decay.
