I had previously given away several nearby colonies so that the only demand they had left was the humilation. This was because I expanded in the other direction but after a couple border expansion technologies, I encroached on them anyway, We just were too close at the start.
I am convinced it is a bug. They should not attack to enforce something you already agreed to.The choice to accept or not seems to be immaterial.
I can see this as a possibility.
I still have a colony too close, but not close enough for them to ask to abandon it. So they ask for humuliation instead.
I agree to the demand, but the colony is still deemed too close so they declare war. However, the colony is not close enough to use as a war demand so the only war option is humiiiate.
Still sems a bug to me.
At least Xenophile ones don't care.
My border expression at their border was so much stronger I practically swallowed one of their systems.
