How do you delete templates?

How do you delete species modification templates? My species menu is absolutely clogged with huge number sof templates I can't get rid of.

Wait, they didn't actually make it so you COULDN'T get rid of them, did they? Because that would be unbelievably stupid...

Have you tried modifying all members of the template to something else and then trying to delete it?

Your threshold for unbelievably is quite low, especially given that most people probably won't modify the traits every so often.

You can't delete them. That's the problem.

Apply the new template to the old template species and once the research project is complete and the template has zero pops you can delete it.

That said, make sure the template has 0 pops with it in your empire.

Modify template > trash can.

its not letting me delete the main one. and its the only one with zero pops.

You can't delete the base version of a species. Other than that I have no idea sorry. The list looks a bit like this:

.base
. modified
. modified
. modified

You can delete modified templates if there are no more versions of that template anywhere in your empire. though if there are still versions of that template elsewhere, they COULD migrate back to you.
When you click to modify the template, there should be a delete option.

You just can't delete your base template.
