Sterilization hub impossible to bombard
Title, can someone give me an explanation? This is totally gamebreaking, and I'm holding off this save and wait for the patch, even though I'll lose achievement rights.

Not only that I got 2 of them on entire different sides, while I deal with one, other chews away at me, it's okay, I can deal with that.
But I'm sitting on a stupid sterilization hub with 150k fleet power, bombing it, it takes 10 away/tick out of the 20k planetary defenses, so it takes a long time.
That's fine, while extremely irritating, I can live with that.

***BUT***

Let's say, quarterway of me bombing the planet, it spews out a couple fleets out of itself.
My fleet shoots them dead.
While said shooting takes place, the planet regenerates, and by the time their fleet is finished off, it's back to 20k hp once again.
Not once, not twice, this is consistent, it's literally impossible for me to beat it, I'm on naval capacity, and I don't have all time in the world, while my empire is destroyed by the second hub in my empire.

Ironman save ruined.

Checkyour fleet's bomberdment strategy, make sure you enabled strongest.

depending on bombardment ethic you can deal more dmg but if you might not be liked it you change them to be to high other nations dislike extream bombing even aganst the AI core -_- trying to exterminate them

My bombardment damage was capped at 50 per tick no matter how many ships I had. You should be doing 50 not 10.
Yeah, it takes a long time to kill a sterilization hub

Full orbital bombardment with my full naval capacity takes 10/day, not sure what's different for you, but it just doesn't work for me.

happened to me too. i think the 1.81 beta has some fixes for it but i don't think it works on existing saves.

took me awhile with a 150k fleet but I managed to destroy a hub

In 1.8 it took 5-10 years bombarding each hub for me with 150-200k fleet. The Contignency fleets spawning is clearly a bug and also the regenerating rate for the hubs. They usually managed to regenerate 3000 hp in matter of days. Haven't had them in 1.81 beta yet so I don't know if they have fixed it.

And when you finally after decades have dealt with the last hub, yet another "main" hub appears to take care of. The Cybrex also eventually came to help, but somehow they suddenly became hostile for me and I had to take down their fleets too. The rest of the crisis they spawned more fleets but kept idling at Cybrex Beta and finally left the galaxy after the crisis was over while I was bombarding their ringworld.

I'm just super unlucky I suppose, I have a ~160k fleet, and the hub spawns a 79k fleet, which takes long enough to destroy that it goes right back to max HP immediately.

I can't make progress, I just hope it won't happen in future games

this is EXACTLY what is happening with me, only I had a 215k fleet. I split my fleet when attacks started to pop up elsewhere and the planet defense still clicks off 10 per second......only now there are 2 hubs that keep regenerating faster than can be destroyed, the obvious fix here is damage to hub remains, no regenerating

right now its unplayable

Try out the 1.8.1 beta, IIRC it has a fix for bombardment.

Hey, don't know if someone had an answer or solution, but I've run into the same issue. I'm playing on v1.8 with Leviathens and Utopia, but not the newest DLC. I have large fleets but only inflict 10 damage/turn during bombardment. I cannot select the most aggressive bombardment due to ethics. The hub continues to create fleets faster than I can deal bombardment damage...

Yes, I posted about the same problem in another thread. I was unable to set "Full" bombardment due to being Pacifist and although I was able to reduce defenses to zero just in time before their fleet would spawn again, it was not enough to kill everyone on the planet and destroy the hub. Eventrually abandoned that game, I started a new game where I will be ablt to set Full bombardment, maybe that will work. I don't think that anyone that has Pacifism will be able to get past this problem, not sure.
