Biology research options while playing robots?
[edit] Issue self resolves after 1 month passed in-game, cyborgs did indeed start reproducing normally without needing anything.
Is this a bug? It seems like it is. I started as robots with cyborgs, neither of which reproduce but im getting biology related growth techs that do nothing for robots or cyborgs. Also there doesn't seem to be a way to increase my cyborg population for some reason. Not sure if the latter is supposed to be that way.

robots do reproduce in the literall way: the build population, you have to assign the job tile per tile. the growth techs should be buildspeed modifiers, but you get them from engineering afaik. maybe it gets a patch in the future...

i think the option for cyborgs to reproduce is controlled by their species law. also, those bio techs lead to bio engineering, which i guess can be useful if you have a large portion of cyborgs. i think originally the assimilators and rogue servitors had the bio tech branch completely locked (like default robot empires), but that was changed later so they can actually get bio engineering techs to modify the traits of their bio pops.

Nope, Driven assimilators are just straight up broken. Cyborgs do not use food and cannot reproduce in any way. Now i have useless food on my planets and useless techs. Good thing I didn't buy this once again broken ♥♥♥♥ the stellaris dev team has pooped out.

Yup and food is at 0 and the tooltip states you do not have any pops that need food

What patch are you playing on? They fixed that in one of the hotfixes for 1.8. I've played Assimilators and had my Cyborgs grow naturally.

Hm maybe I need for a month to pass in-game, I've only had the time run for 6 days since starting the game. I guess if they will start growing next month magically without food I suppose the techs aren't broken... Brb, gonna have the time run for a bit

Oh nevermind they did indeed take a month to start growing without needing anything. How unintuitive. Thanks for the info, I guess i can just keep playing.

Yeah, POP growth happens on a monthly tick. You won't see it begin until the start of the next month.

Yea thanks I thought I remembered it used to start after a day when starting a new game with a normal empire.

Maybe in some really old version from release? I don't ever remember that being a thing.
