War In Heaven
How the hell do you get this to trigger? I have hundreds of hours with the right DLC bought, have played countless games yet have never seen this event occur. How the hell do you get it to happen?

I have War In Heaven in every game. Do you play on small maps with less than 2 Fallen empires?
kbmodigity Sep 26, 2017 @ 1:37am
no,, always 2 FE, normal size

1 always awakens and is a pain while the other one never does

No mods either BTW

I play only on huge maps (1000) with 4 Fallen empires. Maybe that's why I have 100% chance to trigger War In Heaven.

Might be,, I find huge maps annoying as by 1/2 way through the game I can steam roll everyone for the most part and then its just a waiting 10 year between wars game. Gets annoying.

You need 2 FEs with opposite ethos to trigger War in Heaven. Just having 2 FEs isn't enough. You need 3 FEs to have a guarenteed War in Heaven so that one FE will always be opposite to someone.

The more Fallen Empires you have, the higher the chance for the event to trigger. If you consistently play with only 2, you will not always have the right opposing ethics to even trigger it.

Even if you do end up with two that oppose each other, they usually only awaken if you or the AI get strong enough to take them in a fight. If the AI is as strong as the FE, they can and will take them out to gain their territory - they have no allies, after all, and are as such fair game.

Having 4 provides you with a guarantee that two will be opposed and a much higher chance that the right two survive until they get to wake up and fight.

consider yourself lucky it never triggers for you... its a pain in the ass! lol

triggers for me every match, but i play largest galaxy with plenty of empires, used to play 4 fallen empires now i set it to random, i acually went through a phase of only having 1 fallen empire because i bloody well hate the war in heaven event! lol

war in heaven is the most frustrating war.... it break every diplo that took like the entire galaxies existance to forge, ripping allies apart. even if they choose not to join either side, all factions and diplo gets automatically deleted by the event and everything starts fresh but with some joining either side of fallen empire, some oining the third unaligned faction, and the others who choose neither that you try to keep your federation alive, they will just be auto kicked from federation and be with no one lol so it breaks every diplo.

and then we have the actualy war.... th galaxy will be at war for millenia because neither side of the fallen empires does anything, leaves all the work up to you, and it basically becomes you cleaning up the entire galay having to take every single system by force in the entire galaxy for the fallen empire, because no one does anything.... at all.... itd all on you... and its slow and doesnt go fast at all.... hey congrats, you took a planet, heres 0.0001% war score, now go rinse repeat and take every planet in the entire universe. it got so boring i just used console command to end the war when i took bloody ages and was only at like 30% lol it got old real fast..... so when war ends... other fallen empire vaishes, nothing changes besides like 1 or 2 systems changing hands! lol ....so its so much work and annoyance, it breaks diplo, ad after all that the pay off is garbage!

This is not true, opposing ethos isn't necessary. Though it sure does help a whole lot, yes.

^ aye ive noted that all my war in heavens have always been spiritual vs materialists.... guess thats the most common clash.

You dont want War in Heaven, trust me. Either you will be in a never ending war or you wont ever be in a war. Also, if you have subjects, they get become free if they take a AE as their overlord and there isnt ♥♥♥♥ you can do about it. I conquered half the galaxy as a small 8 planet empire only to lose it all in an instant. I waited about 50-70 yrs before the War in Heaven ended, doing absolutely nothing. I couldnt colonize planets because there were none to colonize, i couldnt attack anyone because the AE would crush me and all my neighbors were aligned to one or the other. Its very boring.

well now I know,, started a game tonight with 3 fallen empires.

Even though the concensus is that its not fun I'd still like to see it.

Hopefully with my 3 fallen empires I will get to see it.

Thanks all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've never seen it either. My current game one FE awakened, took a dump on a few nearby AI empires...then joined my federation after the scourge spawned and "helped" fight it, no other FE awakened when the scourge hit, so i guess I failed the roll on that. Of the other 3 FE's, one is isolationist and is entirely surrounded by the second largest empire after my own, also part of my federation. they barely survive the war they start every 10 years because I don't want to kill them so i just let the AI derp about. The third is a curator matrix and aside from giving gifts/taking stuff from me(machine empire), they havn't done anything. The fourth has never done anything at all, isn't close to anyone else really so minimal border friction..so they just sit there. I feel like they should've been the one to awaken and start a war, but nothing and its well into the boring phase of the game, so I doubt anything new will happen.
