As we've seen the only advantage you get is a small modifier to firing rate scaling with the disparity in numbers – unless they make that modifier 2 % for each % of disparity, you'll still lose if you're heavily outnumbered, just no longer in a battle where you barely scratch the enemies paint.
This was sorely needed to make such things as hit and run tactics against bigger enemies or smaller, technologically more advanced fleets viable.
What we need is cards to boost our fleets and ships, with varying bonuses based on rarity. Of course those cards are going to be purchasable through loot boxes, because it's the future of gaming and Paradox would be foolish not to follow the MTX-train. Man oh man, can't wait!
