Hive mind and food
Have some questions about hive mind. I just conquered some planets and all enemy pop are tagged as livestock, but I do not see any boost to my food. How do I exactly eat them ?

In species tab and set rights, I can choose citizenship to undesirable and then in purge I can choose to processing to food which give me negative food instead of boost.

This is kinda confusing. Can someone explain this to me please ?

I recently tried a hivemind game and conquering an FTL-civ. It DID give a pretty substantial boost in food-production
Any mods you have running?

Usually it should work this way:
Livestock-Slavery: each pop produces a big amount of food and nothing else, no matter whats on its tile, basically you are treating the enslaved pops like a farmer would treat meat animals, keeping the "herd" overall at size.
Purge-Eating them: Well thats like a Viking Raiding Party coming to your village and slaughtering all the cattle to transport it off, ofc on a planetary scale that takes time.
The food-output is higher then with livestock-slavery but ofc after a time the Pop is gone

So if there isnt any bug you should see a raise in food surplus after conquering a planet and the moment you switch to "processing" the surplus should raise again (and ofc plummet after a time when the pops are actually eaten)

Check your planet unrest. Unrest above 100 can make your undesirables/slaves to do no profit.
Sadly it's very little hive mind can do about unrest, as he has no ethos spiritualist, civic like police state, and armies cannot help with unrest like 300.

But you can resettle pops to your planets, placing 2-3 pops on each (and resettling slaves is free for hive mind). That way you should eat them easily.

Right Unrest could cause it to go down. Well you can station some assault armies on the planet for the duration of the purge, each army reduces unrest by 10

Thanks for all replies guys. Before end of war I had like +20 food, after war I got 4 new planets and with livestock my food drop to +2. When I changed it to purge eating my food drop to -25. So I had really zero boost to my food no matter what.

All 4 planets have 100 unrest. I am going to try to station some armies maybe that will help.

I do not use any mods and playing on ironman.

Station some armies did the trick, I am getting boost, just need to train more armies. Thanks guys.
