perhaps, i could just ignore the war? i mean my target doesnt have any mean to rebuild a ship, maybe they could give in, or the other empire could stop the war
Relative size of navy and War Duration are both warscore modifiers. So the larger your navy and the longer the war has gone on, the better your chances of them simply surrendering.
If they surrender on their own, you can get wargoals you normally can't, such as ceding a planet under occupation of another empire.
Failing that, cut your losses and accept only what war goals you can.
