Well, effectiveness doesn't always equal fleet power due to varying loadouts and such, but I'd say around 20k, at least. Can probably do it with less, but you'll lose a lot of ships.

It's have PD, a lot of kinetic artillery, some autocannons (unsure about railguns) and very powerfull shields + some armor.

Don't even try to bring shield-heavy cruisers&battleships against it (but armor up to hard cap work wonderfully as usual).

I'd recommend at least 30-35k, or even 40-45k for first try (especially if you're on ironman).

Theres a couple "wrong choices" along the way. try to get hints from curators, and if it comes back alive defeat it and try again. the rewards of defeating it are AMAZING

I'd say it is probably THE most rewarding leviathan of them all.

*SPOILERS*
Yeah the sheilds and power are quite amazing. I'd say though its tied with the dragon. lvl 6 armor, a planet with 30E/30M and a small dragon of your own seem pretty rewarding. Ive never hatched the dragon myself though so IDK how good it is

The dragon is worthless in a fight, just like any other tamed space creature unique ships.
I don't bother with any taming or even special one off ships.

The main problem is that they can't be integrated into your fleet and can't be upgraded with faster engines, weapons or shields. :\

Laughs in 100k fleet power first try
Laughs in 1.1m fleet power (and yes, that's just a little less than one-fourth of my total fleet power)

Having way more fleet power than required to kill a guardian is usually a bad thing, since it means you could have gotten its bonus a lot sooner.

Also, did you seriously need to necro this post just to make that comment?

Wow. I wish I were as cool as you. Can you teach me?

The guardian is rather weak really. Just send in over 5000 Corvettes with no armor or shields and just Torpedos. The Fortress will break or your CPU will !

I think he got an ego rush making it. I probably would have too if not necro'ing posts was my mandate.
