Spectral Clockwork

In some games this event pops up after surveying a pulsar, telling you the radiaton bursts become quicker in succession and should vanish in about 30 years. What is supposed to happen after this time ? I tried having a science ship in orbit for almost 50 years ... but nothing ever happened. Also, there is no notification that it returned to normal or something like that.
Am i simply missing something ?

Yes, after some time Spectres will arrive here. I'm never check will they arrive exactly after 30 years or just someday after it, but don't think it's important.

I placed several large fortresses in orbit around one when I got it, nothing ever happened. I just ignore it now.

The spectres are a joke. There's no surprise. If that's what you're poorly trying to elude to.
