Sectors and Habitats
If I build a habitat and put it in a sector will the sector colonize them? I think you can set sectors to colonize.

It SHOULD do, but atm sector-colonization seems to be not really reliable. A lot of people actually experiencing it never working.

So should I just do it myself and then make it a sector?

Personally, I never let my sectors build anything planet side. The only time I give them a planet is when every tile is built on.

afaik its way safer and quicker colonizing worlds yourself, maybe it gets fixed with the next patch.

The reason im asking is because my planet limit is at max.
galadon3 Jun 8, 2017 @ 5:13pm
Actually its a SYSTEM-limit, no matter how many inhabited planets and habitats are in a system it always counts as ONE against that limit. So just build the Habitat in a System that already has one of your colonies and you don't even have that problem.

habitats dont count towards your colonized systems

They do if you build them in an actually uninhabited system and then colonize them.

Not from what Ive seen. A few games ago I had 4 different non sector systems with habitats in them with no colonizable planets and my colonized planets never went up.

Here is part of a reddit post from one of the devs before they came out:

They can be built around any non-habitable planet (not asteroid or moon) in your space, and there is no limit to the amount you can build other than the number of such planets you have to build them around. Habitats function exactly like a planet: They can be colonized with whatever Pops you want to live there, they can be worked for resources by constructing buildings there, and they count as a planet for the purpose of empire research costs. In order to build a habitat, you need to have researched the maximum level of spaceport technology and picked the 'Voidborn' Ascension Perk (for more info on Ascension Perks, see dev diary 56)

Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/Stellaris/comments/5q9o9f/stellaris_dev_diary_58_habitats/

As you can see it only says it counts againt your empire as a planet against research only.

question related to sectors and habitats, if I put a habitat in a sector set to balanced, what buildings is it likely to build? energy or science? or is it extremely bad and build minerals or food?
Cblue22 Jun 8, 2017 @ 6:29pm
go with energy. Or do they not have the 10 energy building?
cooltv27 Jun 8, 2017 @ 6:30pm
it got nerfed to 8, inline with level 5 plants.
im asking what the sector would do though
Daywalker Jun 8, 2017 @ 7:37pm
energy is best used but be sure that there is a Sun in the system or you cant build the Sollar collectors^^

Energy is useless. Better to go with research. I have 3.6k energy per month but only 2.8k engineering research per month.
