Loadout for battleships?
So basically on my main line battleship Im rolling with giga cannon, 4 medium gauss cannons, a medium size 1 Tier flak, 1 Tier 3 medium phased disruptor and a bomber squad. Is there a way to optimize this? I was thnking replacing something with plasma ( i have tier 2 plasma) but I dont know.
Edit: Yes I know it partly depends on opponents but just know im very railgun heavy and so is most of the rest of the galaxy.

replace the bombers. bombers are a waste of a slot if you enemies have any PD or flak. even if they don't - by the time the bombers finally arrive at the combat zone, most battles are already over.

having both disruptors and gauss cannons is probably also overkill. both are primarily good vs. shields. gauss is also somewhat decent against everything else, but disrutors aren't - they have crap dps and no bonus vs. armor.

multiple gauss cannons might also be overkill since you already have a giga cannon that does the same job (strip shields). i'd go with 1 giga and fill the rest with large or medium plasma cannons. flak is great, but i usually put that on cruisers since they are going to rush forward anyway, so the flak can help squish corvettes after deleting enemy strikecraft.

I'm wondering, do you ever use disruptors? I find myself reliably choosing kinetic due to their better damage overall. I'm wondering what someone else does.

I used to go the gauss with disruptors but switched it up. Thats the reason for this question.

Only for the unbidden or if you know the other guy went no armor all shields other wise the superior overall damage of kenetics makes it better as general purpose shield counter.

If you are very heavy on the physics research you have to use disruptor since your kinetic will suck... except this case disruptor lose a lot of their usablility except vs pure shield spammer to keep their shield down sicne they will spam shield capacitor

I have multiple builds for each ship. For battleships e.g.:
Gun Build
Plasma Build
Disruptor Build
Bomber Squad Build + PD
and of course Builds for the big canone/archer etc.

Don't know if this is a good way to do it.

I have two builds: 1 with all kinetic artillery and an x weapon for range and high damage as well as shield stripping, and another with a lot of plasma for armor stripping.

I read overhere that BBs are not good. Skilled people seem to agree that no having a BB is better than any combo.

I would disagree as battleships have the highest a possible damage output of a ship and are the most durable with highest potential for armor and highest base hull, meaning they will last in the fight longer. They also hang back, meaning they're targeted less and can just keep dealing damage. I use them as the cornerstone of my fleet, where I deal the real damage, and it works quite well.

Well they're definitely better for taking out bigger shields, so I usually put some Kinetic Artillery and Plasma, all large slots, and one of the lances if I have it. This is my primary build, though sometimes I'll have some with some smaller slots with gauss.

I pair this with two builds of cruisers, one focused on taking down big ships and another on taking down little ships and using flak, usually having more of the latter.

I also bring corvettes with Gauss and energy Torps.

For comparison, I invaded a fallen empire with this build and my 30k fleet beat two of their 22k fleets, lost most corvettes, about 2/3 of my cruisers, but no battleships.

Yes, BBs stay on the back. They are the last ones to get targetted. In this regard, all the defense they have gets wasted.

I am thinking that the best BB is the one that has XL and no armor or shields at all.... Just L weapons and auras.

Should be a very cost effective artillery; albeit an odd one.

Anyway, then again it is kind of odd to let it go with empty slots.

Battleships can't have aura's?
