No map
I played Utopia immediately after release, had a good time. Came back to play it today and I have no map. The galaxy screen is just a gray overlay of stars. Attempting to "go to" my home planet just gets me an extreme close-up of the sun. In either case, I am unable to zoom in or out or pan around. The game simply doesn't seem to be loading the map at all.

I thought my saved game might have been corrupted somehow, perhaps by a patch or something, but a new game did the same thing. Verified integrity of the game through Steam, no affect. It was working fine just two days ago, so what gives?

i have a similar problem, but instead of a gray overlay its just empty space, the galaxy is missing. I also can't go to anything else, just stuck staring at that

Just came back from a trip yesterday night. Yesterday it was ok. Today I get the same as you describe above. Grey overlay and empty space. Nothing is happening, unless I click the "Go to" button on the lower right on the screen. It'll display my homesystems sun in extreme close up. The camera will slowly rotate horizontally around the sun.

I was able to fix the issue by unplugging my Xbox 360 controller. Absolutely bizarre that it could cause the issue, especially since I always have my 360 controller plugged in and it's never caused the problem before, but there it is.

I had the gray map issue too, to fix it I unplugged my controller as TrumpenReich said above, and I also run the following executables (a tip from another thread).

Steam\steamapps\common\stellaris\_CommonRedist\DirectX\Jun2010\DXSetup.exe
Steam\steamapps\common\stellaris\_CommonRedist\DotNet\4.0 Client Profile\dotNetFx40_Client_x86_x64.exe
Steam\steamapps\common\stellaris\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2010\vcredist_x64.exe
Steam\steamapps\common\stellaris\_CommonRedist\vcredist\2010\vcredist_x86.exe

When I rebooted it worked fine, hope it works for you too! good luck!

yes, unplugging the controller fixed it for me, too. Thank you!
