Can't raise an army but my enemy can at very start of game ?

Like the title says, only a few years in, met a race and they immediately declared war on me and have kenetics, missles, shields and troops and easily invaded me even tho my fleet strength it was the same as theirs and now they have captured almost all my planets and i couldn't recurt armies to defend these planets or even raise an army to be able to recapture them now i've managed to fend off their fleet.

Am i missing something here with this game?

Also side note, with all the games i've played, even though i have advance start and fallen empires and usually get 3 planets quickly and get a good economic start the AI always seem to be stronger off the bat. Also playing as hive mind and seems everybody hates that.

have to click on planet screen, then theres a tab at bottom of planet control panel which says armies, then recruit armies from there. defensive armies cant be transported off world so they are useless, assault armies once built you have to click on them and make them launch from planet before you use them to retake, they then launch in their own transports

ya i did go to that tab and clicked on recruit and nothing is listed to recruit, assult or defensive :/

if the enemy occupy the planet/have inavded it and took it as warscore i dont think it will work lol

also maybe it only has population on that you havent given them the rights to join the army?

so if it hasnt been occupied you should check the rights of the species that live on it and make sure they are set to be allowed to serve in military ;)

i'm playing hive mind and doesn't seem to let me set rights for them. But doesn't say i can't have armies when i picked it as a form of gorverment.

ah, with hive mind only your core species has rights and stuff.... all other species have no rights and get killed off i think :P

so yea it all depends on the pop of the planet, if theres none of your starter race on it then you cant do anything with it as hivemind i think, until you migrate some of your pops there lol

ah, also figured out it was a mod i had on stoping me, it was just the portrait and didn't think it would affect a gameplay mechanic but it did. lol works now that the mods off.
