Best Hivemind Build
So. I made a hivemind with the species traits of super adaptable. the -4 points one. Took weakness and repugnant as my balancers... I can now colonize any planet that I see. And I don't take any max happiness penalties (40%), and I can expand like nothing else can.

Opinions? Anyone find a better build?

Only been playing a bit with the hivemind.

Adaptable trait seems a bit worthless on them? I would say, so seems you wasted 4 points on nothing and only gained bad traits

Because I noticed that adaptable & habability doesn't mean ♥♥♥♥ to them.
Why?
No happiness as they are hivemind -> Habability changes the "Max happiness" on that planet you can have -> No happiness, no need for max happiness -> Colonies anything above 40% all you want

Correct me if I'm wrong. Been working great in my game.

I went with

-Nonadapative
+Intelligent
+Natural Sociologists
+Thrifty
-Sedentary

With
Hive mind
Subsumed Will
Natural Neural Network

hiveminds don't care about happiness so?
OceanGazer 6 ABR 2017 a las 15:02
Wait, Hiveminds can colonize any planet anyways? I thought that you needed to be at 40% habitability to colonize.
ProfessorCookie 6 ABR 2017 a las 15:06
Anything above 40%, only robots can go below 40% habability. But you don't need to have extremely adaptive as you gain no big boost from it. Except that you can colonize a bit more planets, which depends on settings is plenty and worst case scenario, take only Adaptive.

The happiness plays no roll in hivemind, so if you take a 40% planet, a normal race would only be able to be 40% happy. Hivemind doesn't give a ♥♥♥♥

I took Nonadaptive and gonna use genetics to remove it later in the game, maybe.

No cause the other 6 planets that arent in your main choice only have 20% habability while you can research to improve this to 40% trough research, but if you want to effictivly colonize anything from the start it is required.

I took Venerable just because i hate replacing scientists / admirals xD and as far as I can tell, only the Ruler gets Immortality while the rest have normal lifespans. Not sure if that's how it is, but that's how it seems to be since the Ruler has a trait stating he's immortal and the normal leaders have basic traits

Thoughts:
Super adaptable is great for early expansion if you are going for a wide build. While Hiveminds still get a few benefits from habitability (specifically, pop growth speed depends on habitability, but that's not that big anyway). Mind you, it's a bit of an issue on the late game, but then again, hiveminds will likely go for the bioengineering ascensions, meaning they can eventually remove positive traits once they get the habitability researches done and/or create subspecies for each environment. Of course, that's only if you do want a early wide expansion strategy, which might not always be the case.

Repugnant: Basically free points if you plan to handle your diplomacy at the point of a gun, since the happiness modifier for other species is irrelevant (any species in your empire that cares about happiness is going to be eaten, so they will be incredibly unhappy anyway... :P )

Decadent, Solitary and other happiness penalty traits: Free points basically, only costing being one of the picks.

Sedentary: Hiveminds pops don't seem to migrate at all, so on on hand, migration time is irrelevant. But on the other hand, it also means extra influence to relocate pops and Hiveminds already get less influence than everyone else due to not having factions.

Edit:
Oh, speaking of genetic modification: No happiness means no need to worry about your subspecies being annoyed at being oppressed or anything of the such, so genemod away!

Unless they changed it this patch (did they?) you can only remove negative traits, and add positives. You can't remove a positive trait.

I think bio engineering ascention path gives you the option to add negatives and remove positives as well.

This. Although I think it was the tech the second ascension perk gives.
