Best Admiral Traits?
Attempted to goggle this but just found a ton of threads talking about Synth vs Cyborg topics or threads from like 3 patches ago.

So what traits do you guys look for in your Admirals? Rate of fire? Hit points? Speed? I know the evasion trait used to be the best but I have not since it in a long time, not sure if it’s been removed or not. Even if it’s not Evasion has changed a lot so…

it's a percentage bonus. is has the same effect no matter how long or short the base cooldown is.

Base autocannon cooldown is 2.35
Base kinetic artillery cooldown is 8.

2.35-8%=2.16 or a difference of 0.19

8-8% is = 7.36 or a difference of 0.64

0.64 is more than 0.19 even on Steam.

seriously?

the cooldown value is meaningless in isolation. the important metric is the dps of the weapon which is average damage divided by cooldown (and multiplied by accuracy)

base autocannon (S) min/max damage 3-15, CD 2.35s, acc 82% -> dps = 3.14
lowering the cooldown to 92% of original value:
min/max damage 3-15, CD 2.162s, acc 82% -> dps = 3.41
-> 108.7% of original dps

base KA min/max 121-239; CD 8s, acc 70% -> dps = 15.75
with 8% fire rate boost:
min/max 121-239; CD 7,36s, acc 70% -> dps = 17.11
-> 108.7% of original dps (surprise suprrise!)

it's almost as if they used a percentage bonus to make it equally useful for all weapon types...

EDIT:
also, it's probably not basecooldown - (fate of fire %). that would be a strange implementation. at 100% fire rate bonus, the cooldown would be 0 and the weapon would have infinete dps. i'd expect 100% fire rate bonus to cut the cooldown in half.

so it's probably more like cooldown * 100 / (100+firerate)

Cautious is really good (10% weapon range), though it's less good for chasing a fleet since you will spwan on top of them.

Aggressive is really good (8% fire rate).

Unyielding is another good one (10% hull points).

Ship logistician is nice, but most admirals get it anyway when they are leading a large fleet. Note: Aggressive and Cautious are mutually exclusive, which is too bad ;)

More important though, they get a lot better when they level up and there are different ways for admirals to gain traits

I usually go kinetics, so range is a great pick for me typically. But late game when I have 200k fleet power, Upkeep becomes very good.
