Created A Huge Federation - How Do I Declare War Now?
Been playing, and I built a huge federation, however at this point I can't get them to agree to declare war on anybody.

I use the "suggest demands" button, but it literally does nothing. There is only one empire that they are interested in declaring war against, and moreover, I can't get them to declare war, it has to be initiated by the A.I. in my empire.

I want to ban slavery and purging throughout the galaxy, all of my federation has the same policies, but are never on board for such "righteous wars".

Suggestions or know how?

Obviously, that's how democracies work. Don't do large federations methinks...

OBVIOUSLY... but I want to win the game by Federation. I just need to know if there is a trick to it or not? I mean the A.I. can get the A.I to agree to war.

I think a federation win means assimilating everyone and their 2nd mother into your federation.

Personally its not my thing, since I don't trust my AI allies to do jack.
When you fight the praetorians alone with and the AI bicker and war over each other...part of you just dies on the inside.

The trick is to only have federation members that share you ethics and gov't types. Don't admit a pacifist empire and expect it to be blood thirsty. Getting federations to do you bidding is a difficult thing if you just admit anyone you can get.

Yeah I mean I don't expect a blood thirsty empire; because my pop. ethics and those in my federation are egalitarian, peaceful, and spiritual. However, despite this, I would think they would be on board with starting "Holy Wars" or "Wars of Justice" to rid empires of slavery, purging, and any number of non-egalitarian policies held by other empires, as well as wars of liberation.

Which as I said, the A.I. often starts wars with one specific empire with such goals in mind. However, I myself cannot seem to start the war with this specific empire, despite using the reasons of liberation and banning of slavery and purging; even when I press the "suggestions" button.

Perhaps the suggestions button is broken or is there something that I am totally missing here?

I do wish there was a function to call votes on specific policies, rights, and treatments. For instance, I would like to vote to say for instance on policies where they are forced to accept leadership from all species, citizenship for all species or non-citizenship for certain species. Etc. etc.

When you are choosing war demands the game will give you a preview of how each member of your federation is going to vote. This will change as you change your war demands, if those demands change someone's opinion of the war. Essentially, you have to play the diplomacy game and give those empires that don't want to start the war some rewards to change their minds. You might not even be able to get anything out of the war for yourself.

If the federation is especially large then there might be no way to satisfy all the empires that don't want to fight. In that case declaring war will be impossible. The only thing that might help is to choose your target based on the opinions of the other members of your federation. Look for an enemy that is hated by as many members as possible; they may be willing to agree even without any rewards, which will free up war score to devote to bribing the few holdouts with war demands.

If all else fails then you could try leaving the federation, fighting your war, and then trying to get readmitted to the federation. That's a desperation tactic, though, because it comes with all sorts of problems of its own.

Why do you need help from the AI to fight the roman emperors personal guard? I mean sure the pretorians have a great reputation but they kind of sucked at there body gaurd job and your army has guns.

Than again i do supose the doctor used a roman legion to fight an army of robots so maybe your troubles arent that sad

Turns out the best thing to do, is just periodically insult any empire you want to go to war with. Eventually the A.I. will declare war for you.

Unfortunately there just aren't any good mechanics to help you determine war demands for your federation.

Thanks m8, would've been nice though if the developers had made a better way to interact with your Federation

Why would a peaceful or pacifist empire want any kind of war. I think you are mixing up peaceful and Egalitarian for example. Spiritualists might just as easy not care about slavery as care. Purging generally annoys most people enough on opinion mods to make people want war.

This has been and for me still is one of the best mods in the game. Adds many more personality types for you to pick and choose friends, also a bit more warfare overall.
