Failed to launch game (unknown error)
I can't start this game and also followed every step on the steam-support website. I think has to do with the game. Can someone help me ?

Having EXACTLY the same problem - this was what happened with Cloudbuilt and Dreadout as well. The devs for Cloudbuilt patched the game over and over again until it worked on just about every system imaginable. Sadly, 4PM looks like almost impossible to get started unless anyone out there can help??

I'm having the same problem :( Refund?
Burleigh  [developer] Jul 14, 2014 @ 3:04am
Hi guys, sorry for the problems, are you running the mac or win version?
robertblane Jul 14, 2014 @ 4:02am
Running the Win Version, in my case Windows Vista - pretty much the same as Win 7 but the game will just not launch - what do you suggest?
Cubetopia Jul 14, 2014 @ 6:00am
I have the same problem with Win 7.
robertblane Jul 14, 2014 @ 6:18am
Burleigh (developer), can you patch the game for us for compatabilities for XP, Vista, 7 and 8? A lot of us went to the trouble of voting for your game on Greenlight and then waited all that time for the release - and now this...people here are complaining that the game will not launch. If it takes a few of us to petition for a patch then more people will look at this thread and join in, in fact the more people who want to let us know here that their game doesn't work the better. So Burleigh, I am not knocking your game in any way, but you have got to get onto this and patch or optimise your baby and get it running for the masses - US! I created another thread in big, bold, capital letters - FAILED TO LAUNCH (UNKNOWN ERROR) - NOW THAT WE HAVE YOUR ATTENTION, CAN YOU PUT OUT A PATCH FOR US PLEASE????

i think the problem is, that it only works with 64 bit OS and not 32 bit. I will upgrade my PC for this game
Cubetopia Jul 15, 2014 @ 12:05am
This may be the problem, but I don't want to upgrade my PC just to play this game. I'm really excited about it and hope there will be an update which fixes the problem soon.
robertblane Jul 15, 2014 @ 1:17am
You are probably very right about the 64 bit OS support for this game. 4PM behaves exactly the same as DREADOUT in that when the game is opened, it comes out with exactly the same message "Failed to launch game (unknown error). The Devs for Dreadout have promised to fix this soon in form of a patch to support a 32 bit version. Unfortunately, the DEV entitled BURLEIGH has not said whether he is going to patch 4PM and give us a 32 Bit version...
So Mr Burleigh, will you support your supporters and bring us a 32 Bit version? We would seriously appreciate a patch (which would save us from upgrading our beloved pc's).
Best regards, Robert Blane.

i have the same problem, doesnt start (32 bit OS). It runs on the PC of my son (64 bit), but this doesnt help me. Its not written in the System Requirements, that its only for 64 bit. The Developers should tell their customers this fact. Greets Christof
robertblane Jul 30, 2014 @ 10:29pm
Agreed - this is a let down, the develeper should have mentioned that the game requires a 64 Bit OS in the system requirements meaning anyone who bought this game unaware of said fact with have a White Elephant sitting on their hard drive and a waste of a download.
Does the developer care to comment? Will the developer rectify this situation in the form of a patch? We paid money for your game so have the decency to do something about it?!!!

I've got the same problem (32bit OS). When'll we get patch for this game?

Yep, me too...verified integrity of game cache, still fails to start.
Zer0]{elvin Sep 25, 2014 @ 8:19pm

After various attempts to coerce a response from the developer regarding the possibility of creating a patch to address encounters for users with 32 Bit operating systems, nothing was forthcoming. Some idiot contacted me and "ordered " methat I upgrade my OS to 64 Bit in order to play this title. According to said persion, 64 Bit operating systems have been the norm since 2010. I happen to like my 32 Bit OS (Vista) and see no point in upgrading (at cost) just to run a game when the game never mentioned anything about the base level requirement being 64 Bit for operating systems. Surely now, the author of this title will address this problem and give us a bloody patch? As it stands, because of no response from the author/dev I have uninstalled this game from my library as it is just sitting there doing "f "all. Game will not run and quite a few people are disappointed becasue why should they have to upgrade or buy a new system because of just one game? Developer - got something to say on this matter, do you want to address this problem or are you just going to hide you head in the sand with your butt sticking up in the air - hiding or not responding to us tells us that you are keen to ignore this little problem when in fact you could bloody do something about...ball is in your count. Are you a man or an ostritch?
