There's some games on Steam that have been in EA for 3+ years. The really good ones that actually get released...sometimes 5-6 years.
So basically what I think is being said, is that regardless of how they plan to call it (fx; Free, Free to play; etc.) in the end, players are still forced to pay if they want to play it.
To answer Johnson, this game has been on console only for the past 5 years. This is the first time ever it's coming to PC, so I'm sure it's going to be Early Access for 3 months just to make sure its working good and smooth before releasing it to everyone F2P .
As with literally any other game that is F2P that has a paid EA period, it is only paid because they want real fans who will actually work with the devs to report bugs and playtest. If they released this game for the first time ever on PC completely free and it was full of bugs, the entire reputation of the game will be ruined and no one will want to play again once the bugs are fixed. This is the case with a lot of other games that have had paid EA periods before going F2P. it's not to scam anyone especially since they are so open about it.
Only pay for Early Access if you are actually going to be involved with bug-reporting and playtesting for the devs. Wait until it goes free if you just want to play it. It's only 3 months after all surely you can find something else to play while you wait for it to go free.
Sure thing, we understand that. However, Vigor has been available on consoles for around 5 years, so we are entering the Early Access program on Steam mainly to polish the improved gunplay and resolve any new bugs that might result from porting Vigor to PC.
Srsly whats wrong with gamers that they themselves are willing to spend money to play test a game for the devs when months later people just play a better quality product for free.
Some of us are super passionate about the game/project and want to get in on the ground floor so to speak in order to test the build and especially test the overhaul and hopefully give feedback that can help shape the direction of the future of this game that we've put thousands of hours into.
The success or failure of Vigor on PC will make/break the games future so I for one wanna see it done right. I don't mind paying 20$ for this. But that's how I personally feel, I can't speak for any other potential outlanders.
You shouldn't pay $20 to get into a free to play game early...it's not like this game is brand new, it's a cash grab after a 5 year snub.
It is what it is. As a player very invested in the game I'm willing to pay 20$ to see if the overhaul I've waited 2 years for was worth it and if not to hopefully tell the devs what I see right & wrong about it. I don't see anything wrong with players waiting the extra 3 months for the full free to play release but I'm defo not going to fault players for wanting to test out the early access build.
As for the devs using it to milk extra $$ ... I'm sure that plays a part. It has too. But I accept it for what it is tbh. I could easily wait the extra 3 months & just continue to play on my maxxed out console account but I'm sure if I didnt jump into early access I'd regret it down the road. And as a content creator/streamer of the game it gives me a chance to give anyone who watches me some fresh new content on an old title their used to seeing.
Again, these are just my personal reasons for trying early access. pce bro
