Game Crashing and Local Multiplayer issues

Okay, so yesterday I invited some friends to play this game, and it gave us a headache... first of all: in the Ranger Select screen whenever the 4th player tried to join, the game crashed... We tried this a couple times... then I have an idea: what if they joined during the stage?? It worked, but then we found another problem, only 4 controllers were being able to join... I had 1 xbox 360 controller, 1 pc controller that was being recognized as xbox one wireless controller and 4 dual shocks 4... in this mix 3 dual shock 4 and the xbox one controller were able to join... so any ideas about this case??

For me it only works
_____( at least 5 players, because i haven't tested it out with 6 players )

when I disconnect a wireless controller, then connect it via bluetooth ( wireless ) in game while 4 controllers are plugged in which is another hassle as well.

Good to know.
It would be interesting to know what controllers you are using and which ones are connected wired/wireless.

Good to know.

All xbox one,
I can get 5 controllers when doing the extra disconnecting then connecting via bluetooth I mentioned earlier with lastly making the keyboard the 6th player.

Still haven't tried doing 6 controllers though yet.

Also is just with me that the game crashes when the fourth player join in the ranger select screen?? The game doesn't crash if they join while on a stage

I can't even get it to work locally with 2 controllers! All combinations are wired. I've tried 360/PS4, PS4/PS4, keyboard emu/360, and keyboard emu/PS4. I end up with things like one proper controller mapping and one that is completely hosed, button presses on one controller causing another player's buttons to activate, or a controller simultaneously showing up as both 360 and PS4 so I get double inputs. I've tried it with and without DS4windows, with and without Steam inputs on, with and without PS4 support activated in Steam. I wish I had a second wired 360 controller so I can see why that probably doesn't work either. Inputs don't read at all if I use 3P controllers instead of official ones.
