I will say that while it was absolutely disingenuous to launch it in the state they did and it is still certainly not a perfect (or lengthy) game, they absolutely blew everything else out of the water when it comes to some of the tricks/techniques they use in certain parts of the game. There are certain levels and sections throughout this game that just have such an insanely stylish flare. It's difficult to describe exactly what the style feels like, but I guess I would say that to me, it feels like a classic 16-bit arcade game that finds creative ways to push its visuals beyond that era's limitations. They don't just use a 16-bit art-style as a way of being "retro", but instead actually remember it is exactly that, an art-style, which they then do an awesome job of taking in really creative directions!
To sum things up, I'd be hard-pressed to say you wouldn't come away somewhat disappointed by the overall lack of content and replay-value (the game is unfortunately not super difficult, but I haven't tried the new max enemies modifier). This may definitely change if we get a real, content-adding expansion or DLC, but at the time of this writing, it's still an awfully steep asking-price for what's on offer unless you absolutely must own a new Power Rangers game (which is pretty much the boat I'm in! xD).
Hopefully this is somewhat helpful!
- Classic 90's look and feel with hand-drawn pixel art
- Fan-favorite enemies pulled from different seasons of the hit tv show
- Events and episodes that players remember from the show have been remixed
- Action-packed, 2-D brawler gameplay with arcade-style shooting and driving sequences
- Pilot all of the original Dinozords
- Jump into the cockpit of the legendary Megazord and take down gigantic bosses
------------------------------------------------------
Just look at the features. It just kind of repeats itself and doesn't have much to say. "We use large jaggy pixels! We included the original lore but changed it so it's not the original lore! We used the most popular enemies from the IP! Action packed! Drive the dinosaurs! Drive another dinosaur!" It's like they don't have anything to say. No mention of cool game modes, video features, leaderboards, a Power Rangers museum like Atari 50. There's nothing interesting to say. It is not even bare bones because it lacks basic and modern features.
Wait for a 50-60% discount (knowing their policy, you will have to wait quite a while).
In the meantime, play Street of Rage 4, TMNT Shredder Revenge, DD Gaiden, or Mayhem Brawler.
I have 1,06€ in my steam wallet. That´s the price i´m willing to pay for this game in it´s current state.
But i would consider getting it for half of the current price if the game gets updated with an actual 6 player online function (meaning 6 different systems connected, not just 2!) and crossplay for all console/pc versions.
When that happens, good luck finding 5 other people who are willing to join you and not leave the lobby while you wait for the party to fill up, It's not like other popular multiplayer games where there are 1000's queuing up looking for a quick match.
You right.
