6 Players out of the box help?

So I have friends coming over Saturday who I dont get to see often. We're going to play this game but it's annoying you have to beat it before you can play 6 players.

That leaves me with the options of play it by myself first which sucks not experiences it all together. Or only have 5 players and someone sits out.

Any solutions that anyone has found. Maybe if someone could share a save file with green ranger unlocked?

Unlock the green ranger changing *txt files by yourself

use windows key + R
type %appdata%
Search for "MMPR Ritas Rewind"
Edit "alpha_settings.json" with some txt editor
Search for "num_unlocked_rangers": 5,
It must be 5 for you, change it to 6.
Save the changes.
Launch the game, you have Tommy unlocked.

but well, the real experience ofc is to play and finish the game, so I don't really recommend this manipulation but whatever.

Did anyone get 5 or 6 players working?

I tried local co-op on the steamdeck docked to tv, and while we could see all 5 controllers in the steam overlay, the game would never add rangers past 4.

That's a limitation with xinput controllers. Using dinput controllers for all, or the 5th and 6th player works.

The controller order was xbox, xbox, steam controller, Nintendo switch pro, Nintendo switch pro. Is Nintendo switch pro still xinput? I guess I'll try putting steam controller in the 5th spot the next time my friends come over.

WIndows, by default, only allows four controllers if you are using xinput. You would need to use controllers that support direct input in order to overcome this limitation.

4 ps4 + keyboard is all i can do, a 5th ps4 pad didn't work, i tried a lot of things,
joy2key doesn't work with 5th gamepad,
xoutput (software that lets you map other gamepads to any input device) doesn't work past 4 gamepads cause its still xinput...
i tried plugging 3 old (winXP old) gamepads it didn't work, it's directinput all 3, didn't work anything but p1 p2 p3 *which were also worked by keyboard, pad 1 and 2) gave me a headache so yeah it's a huge mess.

note, using xOutput you can control 5 rangers by yourself, p1 keyboard, p2-5 gamepads, all mapped to space ZXC and arrows, i've done a whole run controlling all 5 myself
all 5 rangers play EXACTLY the same so it's very easy to contol 5 at at once, same combo, same speed, same everything (sad lol)

you can use vjoy to play as 6p. that will emulate a dinput controller. it worked for me.
