Sincere but painful criticism.
At the time of the Super Nintendo, these pixel art games were attractive, but nowadays, they are completely ugly and demotivating.

Dotemu a few years ago made an excellent game from the nostalgic SEGA franchise, Streets of Rage 4, delivering a modern gameplay and beautiful art design, and for me anything that is inferior to that quality of gameplay and art in Beatn'UP games will be instantly discarded from a possible purchase. The game made by Dotemu simply became a "Standard" to be improved and followed by companies interested at develop B'UP games, it does not need to be a faithful copy, but a reference, a solid base to make something bigger.

The developers of this game may have given it their all, and I apologize for the sincerity, but this Power Rangers game is ugly and outdated.
It's time to leave pixel art behind, and start using technology to produce more beautiful and immersive games. Pixel Art games are no longer attractive, they are ugly and demotivating.

The design of this game was definitive in my choice, a choice that I decided not to buy. I think it is too much ugly and outdated compared to SOR4

the snes power ranger games look much better than this really, replayed SNES power rangers the movie it's so much fun! and that SOUNDTRACK is just amazing!
some pixels like SNES is fine, more than that yeah it's a bit off putting.

I think the graphics are ok. The game clearly is a homage to the snes times - they even simulated the "mode 7" effect by scaling up boss sprites when they grow. The character sprites are well done, the animation steps are good for a snes game, special effects are up to snes standard - just basic enemies look blank, which on the other hand is consistent with the show.
If this game came out on the snes, it would have been well received. Only the "pseudo-3d-cgi" scenes (megazord) are a bit questionable in my opinion as they break the general art style.

Unfortunately we are not in the snes era any more and some things don't work as good nowadays as they did back then. Shredder's revenge understood that and hit quite the right buttons here. This game on the other hand did not.

This game's problem lies not in the graphics but the actual gameplay. Speed, movement set, variability, length...
Those are not technical issues but issues in creativity.

The steps needed to save this game are not huge steps. Get the right people together and in a couple of weeks you can save this

I disagree with the sprites looking good the backgrounds and the little visual novel cut ins those are great, turkey jerky and the other bosses look good, the rangers don't they look like they are from a different game, they don't look very detailed, their frames of animation. They are not bad sprites just when your paying 35 dollars you expect something along the lines of games of that price, shredders revenge sprites have tons more animations, river city girls have more

SOR4 looks like crap.

Long live pixel-art!

river city girls 2 20$ and is about 12 or so hours long to run through the story alone,
thats NOT including max level all 8 characters, the new game plus playthrough, maxing all stats, and buying everything. that can take up to 30 hours

compared to this games 2 hours or so and no level ups, no shop, all 5 characters fight almost 99% the same and only different in super attacks, all you really unlock is green ranger and speedrun mode (doesn't change much really)

Because you view this game with the eyes of 2024. Try to see it with the eyes of the early 90s. For this era the graphics are totally ok. Not great, but ok. I understand this game as a faithful recreation of that time - with all its limitations.

I guess is a matter of taste. I like very much pixel art (its an art of it own you may like or dislike). This game in particular does have a very nice graphics (super scaler levels looks great too) and I think the graphic artists have done a very good job, because is 2024 does mean everything need to look realistic or high res hand drawn.

I did not purchase the game due to gameplay issuses :(

I've played many good B'UP pixel art games, Cadillac Dinosaurs, Final Fight, Streets of Rage, among others. What I'm talking about here in this topic is that for me nowadays these games are no longer pleasing to the eye. At the time of the Mega Drive, Super Nes was fine, it was something modern and good to look at, not anymore in actual era. Current technology has made pixel art ugly and obsolete.
I'm even in favor of putting the pixel art mode in the game as an "Extra" or "Dlc" like Dragon Quest rpg team did in Dragon Quest XI/S simply for the nostalgia of those who like it, but not as the main game.
Technology is cruel, it improves very quickly, the eyes easily get used to what is most beautiful, making old art demotivating. In the age of artificial intelligence, pixel art games are a visual insult.

Given all?

No remap and 2 attacks per character?

You probably also listen to shrill, pathetic, tasteless AI-generated music and get on the nerves of people who listen to real music that they should also submit to transhumanism.

Pixel games better not go anywhere.

Thanks for the honesty. We expect feedback, good and bad. It's always easier to address suggestions when they're not expressed with a lot of anger, but we're taking it all in, because it is valuable.

The team is collecting feedback -- both squashable bugs and suggestions for gameplay improvements -- and testing some of them now. Watch for an update in the next few days.

Hello Mr. DanAmrich_DE [developer], firstly, I would like to congratulate you on your hard work and affection for the game Power Rangers and the community here on Steam.

I'm sorry for this review, I would like to have a good evaluation about it, but the Pixel Art design in games is something that I really feel somewhat uncomfortable with. It's not that I want to, it's something automatic in the brain, my mind simply can't find it beautiful and motivating anymore after so many games with modern and current visuals. Streets Of Rage 4 created a pattern in my mind, a pattern where inferior games visually make me lose interest in experiencing the game.

I would like you to give us the opportunity to play a game from your team with a modern and up-to-date look at some point, I'll be looking forward to buying the game the day you release it.
I wish the development team success, and I look forward to playing new games with more modern visuals if that is in your future plans.
