On the PS and Xbox storefronts, they have online play listed and both of them says it supports up to two players online.
I went looking and couldn't find one stating one way or another on the issues, only saying "5 players local" which as far as I am aware, is only PC and Switch? I don't know if you can do more than 4 on Xbox, I'm pretty sure you can't on PlayStation.
Either way, I see that the dev is pretty active on here, so I figured I'd ask since it could very well be an error or some sort of limitation.
The original plan was 5 online, and that's still the plan -- but at launch, we are targeting two. This is quite honestly because we hit a snag and did not want to delay the game as a whole. So, two is more likely at launch, followed by an update that adds players, back to the original plan of five. It felt like the best compromise -- get the game out there, support what we can, and follow quickly with an upgrade.
FWIW, this is why devs cannot always give a ton of detail on games before release -- things happen, things go wrong, things need to be managed and player expectations won't always align if too much information is shared too early. This is exactly one of those situations that we had not predicted but now have to backtrack. And we don't like that.
Sorry, didn't realize this question had not been addressed. There is no cross-play (Xbox to Steam) but cross-gen (Xbox One to Xbox Series X|S) is supported.
Can you add server browser? to team up with other players? check ping.
ONLINE it's a must and we could have so much fun.
Horrible move by your overlords. Delays r always a good things.
After talking to hundreds if not thousands of fans for whom this is the highlight of their year...strong disagree. We will follow with a fast patch.
Sell unfinished product then patch later. Ya ur over lords only care about money.
The only issue I might see is if someone wants to play specifically 5 players online and won't buy it thinking it doesn't support it but I think if someone is into this enough with 4 other friends then eventually they'll find out a 5 player mode is later added anyway, so..
Besides this I think not adding cross platform is a bad idea these days. I hope it comes later too but it doesn't sound like it.
