if you like your guys on the northside of the battlefield, go with the king. if you like the southside, go with rugga

It may seem cruel but I chose to side with the king under the assumption that Ludin would somehow make thigns better if given the chance it turned out alright for me. Also faen Rugga he was a horseborns rear the whole game and I refused to help him even if it meant fighting the rest of the humans.

If you side with Rugga-a super shady prick, I might note-you have to fight Hakon and the Varl. I couldn't do it. Varl nation all the way!

^ that last part about fighting the Varl didn't happen in my game, I guess because I got Ludin killed, the king blamed Hakon and refused entry to the Varl. So they were on the outside with the rest of us.

This is really thoughtful of devs
But I wonder if I sided with clansmen and fought ludin,yrsa,hakon.....Did they died in the battle?

I put most of my level ups in my varls, but I couldn`t let the people outside starve, so I decided to go against the king, which screwed me up in the last fight pretty hard, since my best fighters decided to change sides.

Are there more ways, to keep the varls and help the people outside?

I have to ask--do the varl die if you fight them? Or are they just defeated? Because if they are just defeated, I would consider going against them, but I am not killing Hakon, Mogr, or Gunnulf for the sake a few lousy clansmen.

Maybe we will know on tbs3, cause i got there with ludin alive, so hakon and i fought Rugga and he poison the king, if he dies, maybe things get better. who knows.

Yeah i get the impression if you've kept Ludin alive and side with the king then since the king is poisened, Ludin will be king shortly and given his character development over TBS2, might actually be a good king to the people.

Then again if you're running a Rook story and get Ludin killed, you could probably try and becomes King yourself. I mean... maybe... either that of Rugga would be... please don't let it be Rugga.

I played as alette, and when the kingchebag referred to alette as ludin's "pretty country girl"
He blushed......
Tell me he dosen't have a thing for alette.......

I chose the side of the king because fighting against my leveled up varl heroes would be a nightmare. After the end of the game, I don't regret this decision because of these number of things:

1. Rugga tried to kill me to gain control of my clan. And failed spectacularly with Dagr.

2. Rugga is a schemer, taking advantage of all clans being shut out of Arberrang and using them as his combined army to attempt taking the throne for himself.

3. If you left Ludin with his right-hand man Dagr to aid in the fight against the dredge in one village, the prince dies under mysterious circumstances.

4. He prepared poison for the king during the meeting. That's cheap tactic for villainy on neutral grounds.

5. Rugga has an ambush on your clansmen set up in case you don't go his way. Even cheaper villany.

6. In the whole journey he's been with you until he left your clan, Rugga is obviously a ♥♥♥♥ about you leading the clan.

The king may be no better than Rugga probably, but you learned plenty about Rugga to make a quick decision anyways.

...Unless you don't want to fight your varls.

I've got two playthroughs; Rook with the King and Alette with Rugga (Because Ludin died). But there's a third option as well, to side with Rugga when Ludin didn't die, has anyone actually taken the path of going against the Varls?
