"There will be less outfits with too much exposure or somewhat revealing designs."
Why?

Fanservice is a big part of Vindictus. Lots of sexy heroines, being able to customize armor, being able to customize underwear, having armor break, fighting sexy bosses, bathing in hot springs, etc. If you take it away then it's not Vindictus anymore.

Why rob people of what they like just to please the few that don't like it? If people don't like it they could simply choose to not wear sexy outfits.

Vindictus didn't hold back on the dark and grity, on the violence and on the sexual content, that's what made the game so appealing. If you keep the dark themes and violence but remove the sexual content, Vindictus loses half of it's appeal.

Also it's a prequel to Mabinogi, an anime game, so of course characters are going to have unrealistic and sexy anime designs.

Nexon knows people love sexy female characters because they've been filling Vindictus with them and keep adding new sexy costumes. It's probably the only reason the game hasn't shut down.

I've been playing Vindictus since 2011 and invited dozens of friends to play. It's one of my favorite games. Please don't ruin it to appeal to non-existent "modern audiences".

Keep the girls sexy.

Original Vindictus was no near a fanservice game. It is all changed somewhere near The Rise update in 2016.

I said fanservice is a big part of Vindictus, not that Vindictus as a whole is a fanservice game. It's a dark and gritty hack and slash with fanservice on the side, which is how it should be.

Changes made after 2016 were made in response to player demand. Sexy costumes were popular so they added more, you could customize underwear but rarely had an opportunity to see it so they added hot springs, the breast slider was pathetic so they added costumes that increase breast size, the succubus was the most popular boss so they added more sexy bosses. But even all those additions didn't turn it into a fanservice game. It's all optional, you can simply ignore it all, except the bosses but it's not like every boss is a sexy succubus, there are only like three of them.

Which is really depresses me, they took Vindictus spirit from the game and gave a soulless body back (after 2016). In 2011 it was a fun game where you had to clear dungeons with friends to fight a boss, different Oaths, different maps and continents. What now? They add one character and one raid. Raids only. Yeah, the game is dying and thanks for keeping it alive as it is, but i am glad they are going back to the original Vindictus idea. Kind of.

P.S.: Also don't worry, i am pretty much sure (85%) they will provide a lot of fanservice stuff in cash shop with the time :D

I hope that just means excluding the ridiculous nonsense that Vindictus players might expect (like wet secretary shirts or double boob secrest assasin custumes that are only boring see through dresses).
Vindictus was great when Shining Will was fan-service. It strikes a good balance: no warrior would seriously run around with a see through skirt, but is was still believable armor that Fiona would wear.

I hope they make a more coherent theme in this, because Vindictus itself has become an absolute mess. I hope there will be fan-service like the old extra missions to do dungeons without armor. But if they go down the road of silicone, wings, particles and k-pop outfits again... bleh.

Fan-service should be on top, it just depends what they'll do. Vindictus itself has just become a coomer game with particle effects, not fan-service. The problem with "why does it even bother you" ends up at the general design direction. VDF looks quite on point, although it's a bit on the light side. Might benefit from a more looming atmosphere. But maybe that's just Perilous Ruins, we'll see. I'm cautiously optimistic at this point.

Dunno about the bosses either. Sure, the first Succubus was a great addition. It was stretching the boundaries as sort of an evil Evie and it was an optional side mission. Do Neamhein, Bridget, Laura count? Siete & Bres? The thing is, that those always seem to end up with the coomers as time goes on. I know the "yeah yeah, but they bring in the money" argument and it's absolutely right. That's why MMOs generally go down the drain over the years as they loose their art direction.

In the trailer, Fiona wears what looks like her classic costume except her cleavage is covered up and her skirt isn't transparent anymore. When they say there's gonna be less revealing costumes, I don't think they only mean the overly lewd ones like you mentioned. I think it's all about that "modern audience" crap that every company keeps talking about these days and I'm so sick of it.

And it's not just her outfit. They made her look like the ugly Jill Valentine from the horrible RE3 remake instead of making her look like a beautiful blonde like in the original. She looks a bit more like a man compared to how very feminine she looked before. It might mean nothing but I think it's intentional, it could be the trend of making women less feminine.

I was about to start arguing because you criticized the Julia Voth Jill but then you claimed that Jill Valentine was blonde in the original games and now I realize you're just a moron that has no idea what the hell they're talking about

I was talking about Fiona from Vindictus and I didn't criticize Julia Voth Jill, I criticized the RE3 remake Jill. English is not my first language so maybe I didn't word it correctly.

I don't know, man, we'll have to disagree on that.

Fiona isn't ugly like western characters are.
Aloy from Horizon would be an example. How they ever managed to start off with a beautiful woman like Hannah Hoekstra and transform her into Aloy is beyond me.

I get that you might not like Fiona's design, but let's see what actually coming in the pre-alpha. Checking stills from the trailer I don't get why you'd call her ugly. But that fits with Vindictus quite well. She was always called "oldhag" for years now. So maybe, she's true to her origins. I always liked her design. And I like the new design.

I doubt that a korean developer like Nexon would fall into the trap of making the character deliberately ugly or realistic. If they would, I'm sure the new Shining Will would look very different.

???
Then you should know that Fiona had dark red hair at the start of the game right? It wasn't until later that "blonde shining will" became her identity

and why?

Times have changed. Devs can't exactly get away with what they used to. It's the same with TV shows, some 90s shows/cartoon wouldn't be able to be done today considering how offended everyone gets.

I still doubt the info has the same meaning as in the west. At least I hope so. It is a korean game, so they have to be aware of very different expectations of their playerbase. Games get in trouble for not having revealing outfits - and not in the way americans understand it. If you don't have big boobs swimsuit editions, there will be complaints.

The west is more concerned with "realistic proportions" and women being as capable as men. That is not an issue in korean games. You can have gender locked characters, you can do sexy designs. For korean games, it's an issue if you can't go and have ♥♥♥♥♥♥ coomer outfits that don't fit the world.

In my opinion, the skirt of Shining Will as is, is made for pantie flashes. I hope they keep a selection of nice underwear for armorless runs so you can prove that you don't need def. It was always in the initial concept sketches.

Nexon has censored games before. They censored DFO and DNF Duel. They censored then shut down a game called Sudden Attack 2 because journalists criticized it for its female character designs. They censored the global version of Blue Archive before backpedalling when it got review bombed.

South Korea's government is also extremely strict and puts many restrictions on gaming. Not long ago they were forcing mobile games with sexy female characters to be rated 18+ in South Korea which forced many companies to censor their games.

They probably censor it for the west... because over the last year snowflakes take over and get offended by everything (maybe this happens in Korea now too... but I doubt its the same as in the west).

Its a shame to see this happening to Vindictus too and can be ruined for me if done to some extend.

Its a fantasy game, let us have at least options for both revealing and non revealing outfits.

I love the original outfits btw... no need to change it at all.
