Disciples 2 lets your units keep leveling up after they hit their final form for the level, and has a few more units as well as unique units for the campaigns. Visually, 2 is also superior with better and cooler looking sprites. Also, probably most importantly, 2 has an auto resolve feature for combat(trust me, your gonna want to use it).
However if you love the story/setting of the Disciples series, I'd recommend getting this first(or both if you can, they're both on sale at the moment) simply because this one does have a really good story to start you off with and the voice acting isn't bad(or at least is hit or miss like the rest of the series).
The second ones cheats codes are better however, if you are so inclined ;).
The really bad thing about the first game (excepting not getting it to run) is its locked 640x480 resolution if you do not have a CRT or a killer LCD screen. The second game can be played at 1024x768.
- History
- Soundtrack is amazing
- It's harder than 2nd (The hardest maps are 2nd and off course 3rd for undeads). If you feel that you are the best from the best - try to pass level without "autosave". For me it's still almost impossible. I use it few times per level.
- Only 4 levels per company. In 2nd part last two levels you can pass only using some artefacts with vampiric ability and with mage leader alone.
- Mechanic of Sacred Lands is also great. Yes you cannot increase lvl of units when they reached last stage. But it also make sense.
