Basic Q&A
This is not a question, I've posted this for other potential buyers since the forum is sparse

As far as I can tell, this is the original game, although I haven't played it all the way through, just bought it for fun.

Multiplayer
----------------
It only supports local multiplayer on one PC. It does not support LAN or online play. You would require additional controllers, it does not support two users to one keyboard. It does not support mouse so keyboard navigation of the menu is required. I haven't got a game pad to test with, but I have got a joystick which can be used as a controller for an additional player. It can support up to four players. Additional players must use actual game controllers. I tried plugging a USB keyboard into my laptop, but the game still thinks I have only one keyboard.

Compatibility
------------------
The minimum PC spec required is not very demanding, however the steam page only specifically states that it works on old versions of Windows (98 to XP). I am running Windows Vista (no service packs) and it seems to run. No glitchy graphics or anything.

Controls & Gameplay
-------------------------------
THIS IS AN OLD GAME. That must be respected. The controls are somewhat clunky and weird at first. The game does allow you to remap 'some' of the controls on the keyboard, but not all. But those who have played the game understand that this is technically part of the fun. Controls cannot be remapped in the game itself; graphic and controller settings are specified in a console that launches before the game. In game you can only edit sound options. You cannot have multiple save profiles. It only saves for one user and it can reload from the last time you saved.

I hope this is helpful.

Thanks, man. I'm on the fence regarding buying this game. Maybe if it had a few things to make it 'more 2014' I'd be less hesitant in buying it, even if those updates were just achievements and trading cards.

Yeah I'm only gonna buy it for the sole purpose of playing it when my college buddies come back for Christmas and the like, totally gonna crack this one out and relive some young adult memories.

As I said it's an old game, it might not even run correctly if it's quite a new computer. In another discussion someone's not able to run it on Windows 8.1. I'm surprised it works on Vista, but then I'm even more surprised that Steam would bring it out without patching it up.

For the price though it's not as if you would be losing out.

Thx for the Q&A! Could you/someone also list the maps and weapons which are in the game? And does this game work with a wireless(!) Xbox 360 PC controller and in 1080p?

I haven't got round to completing the game properly yet so can't yet provide all the map names and weapons, but it should be as it was in the original PC game (not the console version).

I forgot to mention xbox controllers in my post, but I only have wireless controllers. I've read in other forums it works with a wired controller, but not a wireless one, even with a usb cable.

For a list of maps see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mashed:_Drive_to_Survive#Tracks_.28Mashed:_Drive_To_Survive_Order.29

I played with that controller (yes wireless), altrough you can't use any axis as buttons, no matter what controller. I put throttle on A, and break on B. Use item on RB and drop item on LB.
I also played in 2560x1440. Everthing highter than 1280 x 1024 (5:4) will strech the video.

Back in my college days we unlocked everything in the original and then fully loaded on the PS2 so immediatly got it again when saw it for sale hear. Cannot figure out how to turn left or right and there is no option to bind these two commands in the keyboard control reconfigure box! How do I turn?!

Arrow keys left and right.

You would think so but not on my computer!

Did you try those keys while driving? The wheels won't turn while you are standing still.

Tried all that with no success. Did a re-install and now works fine. Must of some how got unbound when was trying to change the controls originally or something. Thanks.
