Nice art, barely existent animation. The game plays like a budget Castlevania, which sounds great as a concept, but the unbelievably stiff controls keep me from saying the game is "good". Every movement and attack feels stilted and slippery, and as the game throws more and more death traps at you it's not something you adapt to; it's just bad. It's certainly a challenge, but it's much more a test of patience and willingness to put up with frustration than a test of skill or memorization. The soundtrack is pure generic butt rock that's just cheesy enough to be enjoyable, though it could use a few more tracks. Overall Bloodrayne Betrayal is forgettable aside from the fact that I somehow powered my way through it. Don't bother unless you've mastered the hundreds of better platformers that are available and you kind of hate yourself.

The game is mediocre overall, the combat is nothing to write about. You don't get any new attacks or skills, and the game doesn't even feature a hit counter.

Most of the other enemies aside from the first 2 cannot be launched in the air and are more designed targeting the platforming sections.

The platforming sections are fine with interesting ideas here and there. But the slippery controls work against the player. Most notably when the game requires you to do precision hopping on enemies.

Overall I wouldn't recommend this to 2D platformers fans, neither fans of games focused on combat.

If you are looking for a 2D hack and slash, try ICEY or Rainblood Chronicles: Mirage

If you are looking for a gothic theme action-adventure Metroidvania, with a female stylized main character. Play Bloodstained Ritual of the Night.

If you're looking for platforming preciseness, play Shovel Knight mainly the Specter of Tournament campaign.

BloodRayne is a well established franchise that was known for modestly successful console games... until now.

For some inexplicable reason they allowed the franchise to be used to create a mediocre 2D beat'emup game. That might be okay for some, but the way they've done it is even worse than the decision to do it in the first place. The controls are sloppy and controller centric. There's no fullscreen!

The whole thing just doesn't make sense. I don't understand why anyone would set out to make a new game in an existing franchise, only much much worse... even on paper, trying to turn BloodRayne into a 2d fighter game is a bad idea, without even going into how bad the implementation is here. Even if you're a die hard fan of the franchise, this game should be avoided.

The subtitle, Betrayal, is horribly accurate here. They've betrayed the entire franchise. They want to be paid $10 for making BloodRayne worse.

When BloodRayne 1 and 2 came out they stole content from a lot of great games and the result was awesome. This time they stole from Cat Mario, Flappy Bird and other rage games. This "game" is a disaster.
