Start small with just enough to survive and make some progress. tear down the one or two windmill / solar went the wave is going to hit then rebuild them after. Then once you get a couple of larger solar built then you can go nuts building out everything else and not have to worry about it.
Every survival / building game is like this, you have to figure out the best way to survive / progress based on the specific situation...you know just like real life. Too many games have it where you can just build out like crazy right from the start, this one not so much and it's so refreshing.
The large solar panels are not washed away by the waves.
Just keep them near your base and make certain you get back to your base when a Wave is inbound. Also make certain you have room in your Inventory to store the Raw Materials that go into the quantity of Materials that create your Windmills and Small Solar Panels. Once the warning pops up about the Inbound Wave, there's enough time to get to those Items, deconstruct them and get inside either a Building or inside the Spaceship. Then, after The Wave passes, just rebuild them. It's a relatively minor hassle that can be quickly resolved by locating the nearest Cobalt Mining Site, building an Advanced Drill on it, delivering the Cobalt to a Refiner, and making Refined Cobalt for building Large Solar Panels. After that, you can permanently get rid of the Windmills and Small Solar Panels and ONLY build Large Solar Panels. The Wave's worst effect are then neutralized, and one only needs to carry the necessary resources to build a single small building and one is safe from The Wave.
I don't understand why people have such a big issue with The Wave. It's a mechanic of the Prologue World that will be available in the final release, but shouldn't be an issue on ALL Worlds in the Final Release...
Really want more than two islands and new resources to keep interesting.
I put 3 nuclear cells on the ship and went on a trip over the water until death by boredom.
I believe there's a roadmap that gives us some hints, and I'll try to find that...
EDIT: Correction, there is no roadmap, but I've seen comments about other worlds that are planned...
my storage was all destroyed and of course, with all the contents (bug or is it normal??)
to clarify, the storage was well sheltered and not outside.
If it's to make the game harder, as much as the waves destroy everything... because there, it's frustrating to waste time in farming and crafting only to lose everything after barely 30 minutes of play
oh! so, i have to progress more quickly to unlock this storage...
Thx for the answer ;)
i hope the game will be great (it's in my wishlist)

Personally, I find that it takes away the chanlenge and it would become too easy.
Plus it would take out the story of this planet
And yet it did. Funny side note: the solar power plants are the only structures left after the wave, but all other stuff is gone.
I remember, that was not the case a while ago. But when i load my save now to continue it, my base don't survive the wave anymore. So i uninstalled this demo and remove the game from my wishlist, since this is not just a challenge anymore, it's just a stupid game mechanic. I'm too old for such nonsense...
