How do you consume your food to increase health?

OMG yes please even when I stand inside my base my health is just constantly draining?! :( how does that make sense? :( How do I get health back? THE BASE SHOULD BE LIKE RADIATION SHIELDED OR SOMETHING.

Health in this game is your overall health including hunger not just medical / physical, that's why it always goes down.
